3GB was video RAM only, it used more than that total.

This machine seems to be a complete beast, especially if they can sell it at around £400

KZ using 3GB as video memory, with more to be utilized for future games im sure.

A GOOD 3GB graphics card will set you back £500 alone, never mind all the other components that go into a pc.

Im seeing the which one im going for anyway, the cost is a no brainer.

That's the thing. PS4 is looking very economical. I have been both console and pc gamer but now I am more of latter. I am not much worried about other pc components as I am about gpu prices, especially the high end.

It's increasingly likely that in future PS4 games would utilize 5GB+ as vram.

I would like to enjoy PS4 ports to the max on my PC in future but the cost of 5-6GB high end graphics cards in future scare me

Really? £500 for a 3gb graphics card? Wow, where do you get that from? Considering I got 2 3gb radeon 7850's for less than that.

I'm hoping ms announcement brings something as the PS 4 despite its power the games just don't interest me as of yet.

That doesn't double your VRAM though does it, Titan with 6gb or ram cost £800 upwards, but there is non point in comparing apples with oranges.

Oh no, I agree, my point was against that a 3gb card costs 500 quid, which it simply doesn't, yes if you want 6gb plus its going to cost you a kidney :D but then there isn't anything out there that can come close to making a titan break into a sweat as of yet.

This new gen of consoles for me so far is just uninspiring, there is nothing that has really grabbed my attention and makes me want to throw my money at a new console, which will be a first for several generations now, so hoping that MS can deliver something.

same here, I'm intrigued but not going to be queuing up to buy one at launch which will be the first time in 20 years of console launches.

well of course you haven't.

We've not even seen anything of the new xbox yet, and all we really know for definite is the hardware specs of the PS4.

But hardware isn't what makes a nextgen console worth buying. Its the games. And we've only just saw the tip of the ice berg of them.

being able to upload game footage is a big deal... probably allow public beta testing on games?

gaming in general hasn't really changed that much over the past 15 years.

so the ps4 and new xbox aren't going to try and re-invent the wheel, they are simply going to try and improve it slightly.

i dont know what people are expecting over and above better and bigger graphics.

kinect and move are gimmick's so im hoping they die tbh. stick with a controller until mind control technology is invented. so you think something and it happens.

What are BluRay read speeds like these days? I know back from the Uncharted 1 days when PS3 was first released it had a lot of issues with slow texture loading.

My worry, if they are using bigger, better textures in next gen, will installs become mandatory or has BR read speed increased enough.

The rumours are that both consoles will do background installs of the games so you will be able to play from the HDD.

The blu-ray drive is faster this time around, but yes as above, I'm sure there'll be more reliance on the HDD this time. Which is good really, because the HDD will always be quicker and quieter.

There's talk of installation as you play, so that could probably stop a lot of peoples issue with the installations. Impatient little ***** lol:p

I'm guessing SSD will be out of the question then.

I would like to think games will be averaging around to 30gig mark now with higher texture and bit-rate sounds etc.

I think next gen would need to start from 1TB+
