PS5 Noises

defienetly some sort of defect some people got - I've had my ps5 for a couple weeks now and it's been great noise wise - I've got a router on a laptop cooling pad in the room and it's easily the loudest device in the room
My step daughters PS5 has a different fan than mine - but doens't move as much air as the one in mine. But mine is louder.

I suppose, if mine moves more air i'm happy, it is more of a case of the bloody high pitch noises with it!

Played a blu-ray in my PS5 and it's nice and quiet. If I put my ear to the console when playing a game I can hear a faint ticking noise but I have regularly played at night once kids have gone to bed in a relatively small lounge with volume turned very low and can only hear the fan increase marginally at times. Even then I need to be concentrating on sound coming from the console to detect it.

As I said in the main thread, for once I seem to have been fortunate with new hardware!

Just for reference when I play games, not using the drive the ps5 is silent I don't hear it at all.

Above is what my ps5 disc drive sounded like when I put in a 4k film.

Infact I'd say mine was louder. All the games I have are digital so I only noticed as I watched first film on it yesterday

Mine was making a very high pitch whine - I got a bit annoyed with it, took the side panel off - disc drive side.

Loosened the fan and the high pitch nise stopped. Screwed it back up, the high pitch noise was back. Odd. Must be some sort of resonance. with the side panel on it was worse as well. so I decided to get four small rubber grommets, and a further four small rubber mounts for the dust filter on top of the fan. Screwed them in with the softest rubber on the bottom -> fan -> dust filter. I have also placed a small thin bit on rubber on top of the fan filter so is has some dampening with the side panel.

Metal on metal contact can resonate - mine was definately that. My fan used to have a whone whenever it sped up or down, that is gone too. :) Sounds like it should now.

The high pitch noise is now gone! The system isn't whipser quiet by any means, but it isn't annoying in the room anymore.
Any images of what you done at all? Be interesting to see

I had a friends one to look at that had bad coil whine. He has arranged a return with Sony no idea how long that will take. It was fairly loud it’s the noise version of a dead pixel once you hear it it’s all you hear.....
