Quad Core PC Vs Xbox 360?

What you on about, the screen on that CRT is 1920x1080i, it cant do 1280x720p, it upmix it if you input 720p

1920x1080i does not = 1280x720p, 2 different things.

MY LCD did all 3, 1280x720p, 1920x1080i and 1920x1080/60hz, but after all, every LCD or Plasma is Progressive by nature not Interlaced so changes ever I input to P, CRT can be both but most are Interlaced.

You wont be using that res on any LCD/Plasma TV I have see, you need buy a high end PC monitor like Dell or Apples and them 2 cards would struggle in new games at that RES, I would not like to try that res in BioShock with 1x 8800Ultra which is far faster than both your cards, I stick to 1920x1440 (4:3 CRT).

One you sit across room, it dont matter if SD or HD, there is a guide with screen size and distances online in AVForums, I think my 46" ideal disstance was about 10-12 feet (cant remember), I had to sit back to see SD as it looked crap on a 1080p panel.

Regardless of my dodgy numbers the res is still not high enough & i dont want interlaced.

Most HD set say this HD ready (480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i supported) 1366 x 768 Optimum Resolution & thats what i go by give or take the exact pixle count is irrelevant to me if it does not say 1080P for a TV.
And that's still not 2560x1600:)

I never said it was, I was not even posting the CRT HD info to you, but dont go about saying 1080i = 720p please. ;)

Any any crappy HD LCD or Plasma thats only got a panel of 1366x768 upscales every real 1280x720p input to that res so its not 1:1 Pixel Mapping, you need a real 1920x1080p panel to even do 1280x720p at 1:1.

I still advise you get a proper PC monitor for that res or better still get more normal monitor and game at 19XX x XXXX and 1x newer card now or in November, it will game better at higher res than them 2 and give you DX10.

£300! :( If I'd known I would've got one of those instead of a HD LCD lol, the black issues etc.

Personally I use a sort of tray I built to sit a keyboard and mouse on, works perfectly on a sofas, beanbags, beds etc. and it's not too heavy or too big/clumbsy. Makes for some really comfortable gaming and some awesome visuals. :)

so m8 you use cordless mouse and keyboard from your pc, as my leads would not reach to my sofa, and i exspect you use lead from your soundcard also to your hifi for sound. thx

I have just put my screen res to 1920x1080 1:1 pixel mapped...oh boy what a huge loss of real estate, at least 4"inches of boarder all around.

The Samsung SM-305T 30" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black is a real monitor :)
I most likely get a 47 to 50" 1080P sam for the TV.

Pretty much but I use a PC sound system for sound, lol. Not as good quality as a hi-fi but cheap 5.1. :)

if 720p screen its 9 feet away, if 1080p screen its 6 feet away for a 46" screen.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312431

I would not go by a users post, Im sure it was more than 6 foot lol, thats too close to a massive screen, you would need move head about to see action.

There is a offical chart somewhere and I got a big poster with it all on it with the TV (b4 I returned it), it had angles lines coming from TV to users eyes on a settee with distances etc.

I don't know any real distances or anything, but on my 720p Samsung TV, SD images only look half decent at about 12ft. away and 720p images seem to look great at any distance although naturally the further away you are the less detail you can see.

that is official distances and for hd source 6 feet is exactly right for 1080p source on 46" screen, any farther away you dont see the definition of 1080p, and yes sd looks crap close you need to be far away.

well on my mates 55"srd sony hd screen we sit 7feet away for 1080p games on ps3 and movies, and its awsome, farther you get away and you might as well have 720p screen and farther still sd screen ;) thats how it works.

the guys over at avforums know what there on about also.

I do know how it works, and not all them over there know much, some do.

Fact is its too close for me, and if I did set to 720p it would look like non HD from far back lol.

Next time I will buy a 52" or 60" if they improve any.

im a bit confused actually, u say 6 feet is to close for 1080p then say 9 feet is to far away for 720p i dont get it m8 ? let me explain you need to be closer to see the full 1080p pixels than you do for 720p pixels ok ;)
