Quantum Break PC version confirmed!

The sad thing is MS are pushing the Win 10 store going forwards :(

Fable Legends, Gears Of War 1 HD, Quantum Break, Halo Wars 2 etc etc are all going to remain Win 10 store exclusives as also DX12 titles which MS are keeping Win 10 only.

The only upside is PC will get many MS published games which would otherwise remain XB1 exclusives but having to sign into Win 10 is so wrong on so many levels & the Xbox Live App you must use is very barebones/poor right now.

But then they'll likely sell poorly, then MS will just ignore the actual reason.

That's a real shame considering the issues with the Windows Store App :(

I really hope MS can quickly work around these issues so games work as expected with full mod support etc.

Please tell me they have learned from the Games for Windows Live fiasco :(

Oh well... what's 1 more store front going to hurt?

Steam, Uplay, Origin, GoG Galaxy..

Indeed! While it's a small pain it's not coming out on Steam I really don't see what the big deal is at the end of the day. Your not spending all your time dealing with a store front, it's the game you will be playing and to me it doesn't really matter how I launch it, as long as I can play it.

There's a possible upside or downside to this.

The upside being if it fails hard it'll put releasing games only on the windows store in the grave for another 5 years until they try again with something else, like they did with GFWL>Windows Store.
Downside, they think it's PC gaming as a whole which isn't lucrative and spend less on bringing games out for pc in the future.

Either way, whoever makes these decisions is a plonker; how can anyone be so bad at their job and not learn from the past. Do they want to make more money?

I imagine the store was designed around App development for phones/tablet devices and now they are trying to wedge in full blown Windows games that are developed around the Xbox One.

What is it?

A ton of problems waiting to happen.
Microsoft has a precedent of failing at things like this and ditching it.
I mean you've got the store fragmentation from the last 3 windows releases, and the failure of GFWL.

That's ignoring the UWA limitations. Problems with multi gpu because of lack of proper full screen etc etc.

Nope & even that's been broken for 6 months due to MS breaking the Games For Windows Marketplace backend so if you own any content your unable to download it despite MS promising you can & promising to fix it months later its still broken :(

Well according to rumors Scalebound, Gears of war 4, Forza 6 and Forza Horizon 3 are coming to the PC too and i'd imagine to the windows store just like Quantum Break so we might have to get used to it if we want to play these titles on PC. Im fine with the windows store. Id prefere steam of course but if i get to play these amazing games on my pc i don't mind which they come to. The only downside is if Xfire doesn't work.

We don't just have to get used to it. We are the consumer.

It's not just another store front though, uwa stuff is massivly restricted.

No exclusive fullscreen. Only borderless window.
Freesync doesn't work. G-sync, seems to be a mixed bag in borderless mode.
Xfire/SLI same again, doesn't work.
Vsync is forced on.
Can't hook into the game. So stuff like OBS can only do monitor capture. Can't have overlays (msi afterburner etc), can't use RTSS to cap fps with proper frame timing if need be.
No injection, so can't use stuff like sweetFX.
No per game settings, can only use global ones in driver.

And no, it's not down to the devs to fix. UWA isn't allowed to be full screen, injection is unsecure so will never be allowed etc.

It's just a restricted store trying to turn pc into a closed platform.

On top of that, did everyone forgot GFWL? Microsoft already had their shot with that and closed it down, bought something from the store, too bad, it's gone. Yet now we should give them the benefit with GFWL2.0?

Yup, apparently the Tomb Raider guys said specifically that the UWP is restricting what can be done it's not just a bug or that game but how the platform at the moment works.

AS the list above, it's a joke, *sync, which Nvidia users maybe paid a £300-400 premium for on some screens, seems to not work, paid £800 for a second 980ti, won't work, want to prevent the god awful FXAA from blurring using Sweetfx, nope.

Unless MS get a MASSIVE backlash with people boycotting PC versions of games till they allow real PC gaming then they will continue to do this. I got ROTTR, I will absolutely not buy another game, even if it means missing out on a title I want, till they fix the completely inept anti gamer platform.

Once again a key thing people need to realise, if MS manage to get say Skyrim 2, Fallout 5, whatever, no modding, no access to game folders. They are providing broken console gaming with huge limits within Windows 10 store, gamers shouldn't accept it, they shouldn't allow it and they certainly shouldn't give MS money for doing it.

GFWL was crap, but it was still the actual real full game, now it's the game within limits that I am entirely unwilling to accept. How on earth they could see that literally everyone hated GFWL and came up with a worse version I don't know. How can anyone from MS go on a few forums for research and determine full screen gaming and access to the game folder for modding aren't wanted by gamers? I mean those are big obvious ones, it should also be impossible for them to not realise gamers want *sync, overlays and xfire/sli. It's insane to me, 30 seconds research on any PC gaming forum and anyone with even half a brain would realise everything they've removed for gamers were top of the list of required.

Of course but do you expect a company like Microsoft to care about that....they will do as they please.
Id much rather buy these on steam but going by past history I doubt well have this choice. The other only option is for them to drastically change the Windows Marketplace and I won't get my hopes up over that.

If the consumer speaks out by either getting off their behinds and e-mailing MS about problems or talks with their money and simply do not buy games until they remove these restrictions then yes, MS would change it. Unfortunately what usually happens is the consumer just buys whatever rubbish they are fed without any thinking.

There is absolutely no reason they can't have games run normally even if they go the simple route and simply use the store as an install/buying interface and install any normal digital copy to a folder of the users choosing. It's honestly such a pathetically small amount of work to make it work fine that it's embarrassing they are pushing Win 10 exclusives in this way with such a useless platform.
