Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Good luck to those queuing. I couldn't take it physically at present but pleased we have a live stream from Westminster Hall.

It'll probably be shorter later in the week. Were I still in England, I think I'd make the trip, but not from Germany. I'm glad there is a live stream.

When you reach that age I don't think the specific cause matters as there's so many things that can kill you because of your age and your body slowly failing you
Indeed. My Grandma was the same. Her mind was still so sharp, but her body simply gave up on her/became too week and frail.

The condition of the back of the hands which the Queen displayed- esp on her last official day of being photographed is called actinic purpura. Her mother had it too.

It’s where the skin and blood vessels get thin with age.

Hopefully the coronation isn't - I'm now already up to 35 days holiday entitlement this year - that's 7 full Mon-Fri weeks I could take off ...
I cant see it not being another public holiday but you'll have to wait until spring or summer next year and we'll have street parties again.

At least it might be on next years entitlement (April->April) then.

Can’t see why more holiday is a bad thing!
1) Because I personally can't find much to do with time off (the amount of time off I have often outstrips the amount of money I can spend doing interesting things on those days off e.g. with my wife/kids)

2) Because I work in a small team (3) then it makes scheduling holidays even harder, when everyone's holiday entitlement is increasing - fitting in all of those days without everyone being off at the same time is increasingly more difficult - but yet there isn't necessarily enough work to warrant a fourth member of staff

Anyway, verging off topic

Does anyone know why some of the royals are in military uniform, whilst others are in suits? King Charles, William, and Anne seem to be in uniform, Harry and Andrew in suits.
One is a sex pest and the other stepped down from Royal duties iirc.

Those who got a view last night and during the journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall took the best approach IMO.
Yeah, although last night the cheering was a bit bizarre, seemed totally out of keeping with everything else.

so, what are the shift patterns for those guards? Looks like they are statues, steady as a rock they are. I also notice the foremost guards in white hats, seem to be stood with a stance that seems to be at the ready, if you get my drift.
