Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Say what you will about this country will do ceremony like know one else and it makes me proud

Yes, and the entire family was able to slow march down the mall, admittedly with a lot of police present and some strong men dressed in scarlet. But imagine how many heads of state would be out of a limousine in such circumstances not immediately surrounded by men with gun's.

The whole afternoon made me proud of the history of this country and the scenes projected to the wider world.

Im curious though, whats the straw that brakes the camels back? Does everyone ultimately suffer a "heart attack"?

It's usually a usually innocuous infection of some kind that pushes people over the edge, but most people have cardiovascular problems in their dotage, so the strain that infections put on the heart often result in heart attacks.

I had a cat that died of proper old age. Over a few months, everything just started shutting down and stopped working as well as it should. We had him on drips and all sorts because nobody realised quite how old he was until it became obvious he was a really old cat. He'd perk up after and then just go downhill again, but there was nothing actually wrong with him. In the end we put him to sleep because he barely had the strength to eat and drink. It's quite rare though I think.

No requirement to wear one
Most people are fed up with restrictions now
Everyone is pretty much immunised

I was on a packed flight from Sydney the other day and no one wore one. I'm still alive.
Still got to wear a mask on public transport in Spain. Some countries only accept you wearing the fpp3 masks which are blooming awful

I wasn't sure what to make of the lying in state last night. Part of me couldn't help thinking it was a bit of a tourist attraction and in bad taste.

Watching the live feed today though has changed my mind.

Really please to see people behaving themselves, and thank god they banned phones.

The fact that anyone has to ban something in the first place is revealing the total lack of civility in our society.

The rest of the world must think the entirety of U.K. is braindamaged when they see the comically hyperbolic headlines about how a nation weeps. Ive had American colleagues literally ask me how I’m coping and if I’m ok in the past few days, it makes me cring having everyone think we worship royalty the way North Koreans worship their leaders.

It's a weird one. I think a lot of people were fans of the Queen, not nessessarily royalists. She has been there for the whole lives of almost everyone going good things.

Not just in the UK either...

I think there is still a need for them too. Someone above politics to keep things in balance. Otherwise the PM would have power over everything which I don't really want.

We don't worship them, but most people have a profound respect for the Queen. The nation is officially in mourning.

Not sure things will quite be the same under Charles.

I’ve had a few comments from my US counterparts, I think it’s nice they show caring, like they thank all their service men and women “for their service” we don’t, just different cultures I guess

I don't think it's right to ban them, not when the news corps are making money by filming it, why can't Joe public document what is a significant event in their life

Visitors taking photos of a coffin is considered pretty rude tbh. There will be more than enough official images made.

Phones should be banned from a lot more places.
