Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

The Royal Family would not ordinarily put out a statement unless it is quite serious. You could see the shift in mood in the commons when the PM and Sir Kier were told.

She and her family are in my prayers.

It's not sounding good from what they just said on the wireless. I said last week that I didn't think it was likely she'd leave Balmoral again unless it was in a box but I was hoping I was wrong.

They said that a lot of the royals are heading there now, it doesn't bode well.

This makes me sad :(

Not looking good, will be a real shame when she passes.

Agree with others in here, Charles should step aside and let William take over, he wont though, been waiting a long time.

The Queen has been incredible. Even at this stage of her life, handling the role with such grace. I think a lot of people, even those who aren’t monarchists as such, will feel quite sad at the loss when the inevitable happens.

I'm steadfastly pro-republic, but I have the utmost respect for QEII.

I spent a fair time in Belfast (pre-covid) with work but mainly just saw the city centre.
Was back a month ago for a weekend holiday and it was eye-opening seeing the rest of the city!
yea, eye opening is a pretty apt description. lived in Belfast for a few years. horrid horrid place for sectarianism, much like the rest of NI.

FYI only a definite day off the for the coronation of charlie, most likely arrange the funeral for a weekend - for those who think we get a day off for the funeral.

It really will mark then end of an era. The royal family will not be the same and they won't have the same level of respect for Charles or even William. It is the end of the RF as we know it.
