Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

I think it's going to be quite fascinating for many generations and those of us who are not into monarchy to experience a coronation and see what happens with the transition.

Removing E2R
New stamps
New money
New portraits in government buildings
Changing all references to Charles
All the military elements
Etc...

It'll happen again in our lifetimes for Willy as well.

I wonder if Oz and NZ and other commonwealth countries will stick to their threats of leaving the commonwealth?

There's no denying the impact the queen had across the world. I've been listening to foreign radio and that's all they're talking about. Dozens of heads of states will be coming to UK. Except Putin of course!
Well about the only thing keeping those countries around was the Queen's unoffensive charisma along with decades of respect built up which is something Charles has neither the time nor the charisma to pull off. William is I believe too afflicted by modernity to turn it around assuming he even gets the chance, but I could be wrong there, maybe that affliction will keep it going a while yet.

Presumably because football matches are easier to reschedule as are often postponed for other reasons.
Verging off topic though
If we ignore football events, we've got stuff like this which is going to cost so many people so much when everything is already pretty bleak for so many. - https://twitter.com/_merylfernandes/status/1568151430049013760
TBH I’m in the camp of cancel everything for this weekend and the day of the funeral, but a lot of people feel otherwise
Yeah, I'm not surprised they do. People have spent a lot of money or invested a lot on certain things taking place which is potentially just money being wasted.
Also, we have comments coming from the BBC where cost of living crisis being 'insignificant' as the situation unfolded.

To the cretins who criticise about not shutting down the shop and just the forums - I’ll clear up a couple of things for you;

We, the mods, control the forum and have nothing to do with the shop. It’s our choice to close the forum for many reasons over the years - including 9/11, and other major events.

The shop has no reason to close. Your local shops are still open - especially those major chains. None have shut, but they might do in future.

Online shops are also different - if you didn’t know there’s no one on the other side of the internet accepting your orders, this is all done automatically.

Thirdly, your crass opinions are unwarranted and not needed - get in the sea.

A person has passed away. Show some respect fgs.

Edit - not you :) I mean anyone chatting **** about the queen.

I agree. Even when she was fighting fit I would still never be rude to her. She was a formidable woman irrespective of your views on monarchy. And you just need to look at the international reaction to understand that.

I mean it's been on 24h news in dozens of countries around the world. This is not an insignificant person that has passed.

I struggle personally to understand the massive emotions some people are having but I can understand people being sad. I don't understand people being rude though.

I think she was the last bastion of the monarchy that people know and love both in and out of the UK. It really is the end of an era.

I never criticised the shop Hilly, I just thought it odd to close the forums at a time when we could have all been posting our respects

Is it the place to discuss the impact it is having on people across the UK (football or not)?
What is your life that empty you can’t go 1 weekend without football, I don’t know maybe give your wife/husband/kids/friends some attention in the few hours that the football would be on, our time on this planet is short and we shouldn’t be getting this angry over a game of football

Today has been rather odd. When I got to the school this morning the first thing I did was help the site team lower the flags to half mast. I then set about creating a memorial post on the school website.
The school clock-tower bell was rungs slowly while the students filed in to a remembrance assembly.
I feel a kind of grief that I really didn't think I would. It's most strange.

I welled up at Charles's speech on the radio earlier. Can't remember the last time I got that emotional about anything.
Yea watching it live I could feel my emotions changing, it was a truly monumental moment and he delivered it superbly.

My Nan only recently died at the age of 92, and seeing the effect it had on my Grandad I have no idea how he must have been feeling and how composed he was.

Hearing the local church bell ringing when I walked to get lunch was a nice touch, and really brought home what has happened.

RIP, I'm genuinely a bit saddened about The Queen's passing.

These last 24 hours have been enlightening, the entire world has really shown exactly what a postive influence she has been to everyone, and I was very pleased to see even those you might not expect have been gracious enough to show their respect.
