Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

To the cretins who criticise about not shutting down the shop and just the forums - I’ll clear up a couple of things for you;

We, the mods, control the forum and have nothing to do with the shop. It’s our choice to close the forum for many reasons over the years - including 9/11, and other major events.

The shop has no reason to close. You’re local shops are still open - especially those major chains. None have shut, but they might do in future.

Online shops are also different - if you didn’t know there’s no one on the other side of the internet accepting your orders, this is all done automatically.

Thirdly, your crass opinions are unwarranted and not needed - get in the sea.

Careful, you're turning me on

(I agree wholeheartedly)

I never criticised the shop Hilly, I just thought it odd to close the forums at a time when we could have all been posting our respects
Honestly, there’s plenty of other places better to pay those respects, than on a computer forum. For example you can sign an online book of condolences.

I know many hold the forum dear - like I do - but the 24 hours it was down was as a sign of respect. You can still post your condolences and share funny stories or memories of the queen and what she meant to you (or even didn’t). It’s just weird to criticise what is ultimately a respectful gesture made in a historic period of our time, where the majority of the country and further wide are mourning and paying respects.

What is your life that empty you can’t go 1 weekend without football, I don’t know maybe give your wife/husband/kids/friends some attention in the few hours that the football would be on, our time on this planet is short and we shouldn’t be getting this angry over a game of football

Weird attack when I wasn’t talking specifically about football but I guess this isn’t the place to engage in those discussions if this is the level of reply you get :D

I think she was the last bastion of the monarchy that people know and love both in and out of the UK. It really is the end of an era.

Certainly interesting times for the monarchy ahead now, both on domestic and international stage.

Crazy to think about certain small things, like this is more than likely the last time I'll have Queen on a passport in my lifetime and I'm only in my 30s.

Just chatting to my wife about her and what our favourite photo of her is, we've agreed it's this one:

It's a great one. I love the way Philip was trying to keep a serious face whilst laughing but she was just like nah, screw it and proper chuckling.

I have to say, Charles did a sterling job today with his speech. Truss too yesterday. It's got to be pretty touch having to deal with the death of the monarch less than 72hrs after she became PM.
I can't imaging how hard it must be for Charles to have to go on TV and make speeches when all he wants to do is grieve. Duty first though I guess.

Thinking to the future; it's going to be very strange when we start to get money with the King's head on it. The same with stamps too. Even the police helmets will have to change from ERII to CRIII on them.

I’m in Spain. After flicking through the channels of the tv, I noticed that they refer to Elizabeth II as Isabel II and Charles III as Carlos III.

Yet we refer to Spain’s previous king as Juan Carlos, not John Charles and the current king as Filipe, not Philip.

Does anyone know why?
