Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Not sure the forum needed to be turned off (?) but this does feel like another nail in the coffin of the UK, part of the steady decline.

I think it was needed for the ghouls to cool off and get a sense of perspective. Althrough i think a full 24hrs was a bit excessive, i think we should have come back by lunch time

It’s a strange feeling. Ive lost family members and experienced my own grief, but I never knew her or had the chance to meet her but it’s just very sad that she’s no longer going to be there anymore.

I thought the way that Charles stopped at the entrance to Buckingham Palace this afternoon was very touching in taking the time to greet well wishers and read the various messages on the flowers that had been left.

It was also a nice touch to close the forums in respect. I remember this being done in memory of the victims of the 9/11 attacks as well. The new avatars are a nice touch too.

Reflecting on yesterday I felt surprisingly sad, I don't tend to get emotional about this sort of thing, but when they announced her death and played the anthem, it felt very surreal and difficult to comprehend.

This echos my own feelings, theres been a few moments in the news where someone says something or recalls something and it just reminds me of things my own nan used to do and its a right in the feels moment with a lump in the throat.

Having said that, ma'am has been everywhere in my life from the moment I was born, on money, on official documents, on stamps, the gates of Buckingham Palace were made in the town I live and grew up in, etc etc. Her presence has permeated 33 years of my life, so I guess that familiarity is like an extended family member.

Does that mean you have to retake the oath?
This is the oath of aligence I swore to
I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, her heirs and successors and that I will as in duty bound honestly and faithfully defend her Majesty, her heirs and successors in person, crown and dignity against all enemies and will observe and obey all orders of her Majesty, her heirs and successors and of the generals and officers set over me.

Every day's a school day in here! Never knew that...
It will change from today to
I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, his heirs and successors and that I will as in duty bound honestly and faithfully defend his Majesty, his heirs and successors in person, crown and dignity against all enemies and will observe and obey all orders of his Majesty, his heirs and successors and of the generals and officers set over me.
