Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

R.I.P. & thank you your Majesty for a lifetime of service.

God save the King!

And thanks to OC/UK for following the tradition here of closing the forums on major events such as 9/11. - I expected it, and was plesantly surprised to see the tradition carry on.

Reflecting on yesterday I felt surprisingly sad, I don't tend to get emotional about this sort of thing, but when they announced her death and played the anthem, it felt very surreal and difficult to comprehend.

I thought Charles spoke well today, and greeting people outside the palace helped to lift a very sombre mood around the nation.

The avatars are a nice touch on here. Some of the things I've seen posted on the internet have been typical 'edgelord' stuff and massively disrespectful, I'm glad that won't be tolerated on here - not that I ever expected it would be.
Same. i got the news after infinished playing football yesterday. I usually head straight home after footy but last night i just sat down by the pitch for a while

RIP

Was quite a sudden, she was working right up until the end, I think that's added to the shock factor, one minute she's welcoming a new PM and then she's dead. I guess she doesn't need to be taken to a hospice/or nursing home for her last couple of weeks as she has staff etc. so if there were signs of a steep deterioration recently then it's not as clear to the public but I guess the risk of having say a stroke or something was always there given she's 96.

On one hand, it was expected, obviously, we all knew she didn't have long left, on the other hand it does feel very quick and now we're in a completely new era.

mentioned a few times here - her passing will remind many of parents/grandparents in their own family who (obviously) would have also been with them their whole life until that point

She wasn't my boss for long (8 years) and I never met her (meet Anne) but was proud to have served in the capacity I did and was proud to wear the crown.

"It's not your cell you little oik, it's her majesties hotel and you are here as her guest, now pipe down"

I did get the sense that she was pushing herself far too hard in the last few months and if she took the foot of the accelerator then maybe she would have lasted a little longer. But then again maybe she did it deliberately so that she can rejoin Philip again quicker

The demographic on here has more respect than that.

I was the same and got quite emotional to the point it was difficult to sleep to comprehend what has happened. I remember even when Diana died that loads of my class mates were very emotional but for me it was sad but didn't really hit. This was completely the other way around. I have the upmost respect for people of her generation and it almost seems like she is the last of a kind that has been looking after this country as a whole.

I hope Charles can continue what she has been.

Today has been rather odd. When I got to the school this morning the first thing I did was help the site team lower the flags to half mast. I then set about creating a memorial post on the school website.
The school clock-tower bell was rungs slowly while the students filed in to a remembrance assembly.
I feel a kind of grief that I really didn't think I would. It's most strange.

For me, it's the passing of an era, and a person who worked tirelessly for her country and its people.

We shall never see her like again.

Changed plans & visit my mum today (80 & always has adored the Queen) Took her some flowers spent some quality time together to watch the late morning/ afternoon coverage. Expect will take train up during week to pay respects.

Was quite proud that a few of my gents put holiday requests in today so they can go down there.

All approved.

Can’t believe Putin had the cheek to send to a message of condolence
I disagree Rob, I treat as a mark of respect. Aren't all world leaders (irrespective of differences) invited to the funeral?

I genuinely feel that Her Majesty The Queen called time in her favourite place that she had spent so much time with the love of her life.
