Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Rest in peace..

Can't say I was a fan of the presiding over a rapid decline as it always felt more like protecting a dynasty rather than the country.....

But it was done without undue scandal and she was the master of diplomacy.

I just don’t get how closing down forums where people could post messages of condolence, shutting off multiple tv channels that could show highlights of the Queen (thank goodness for streaming services) and postponing all sport, particularly childrens leagues that I really don’t think the Queen would be in support of and adult games where people could mark their respect, actually achieves anything or does anything for her memory.

We sang the national anthem in a church service yesterday, very strange singing ‘king’ now!

Why was my post deleted @ ThundyCat can i not post up Laws she put up in place ?
Looks like it's been sorted. Top job as usual @ThundyCat
My fault, I saw the thread title and with the general theme of showing respect, I thought that replying to someone pointing out examples of potential scandal when someone has just passed away is very much not being respectful especially as its only going to invite more discussion, so I did report it.

Apologies once again

Yes, the cancellations are strange and I couldn’t imagine her wanting that.
The majority of post-deah traditions, whether royalty or commoner are for those left behind, not the deceased person. When I am gone I don't care what people do - they can dance naked in the streets if they wish. It is the same for Elizabeth II, we do what we do for our own beliefs feelings and traditions rather than what she wished for.

the sport cancel was optional, but, if you heard, they were having to divert police resources elsewhere so that was contributory, even if organizers subsequently thoughts respect could be marked at event; upcomimg ceremonies will be biggest security mobilization of Met police, they said, for 70 odd years (implying the coronation, it seemed)

It's strange for me, I don't necessarily support the monarch in this day and age, yet I feel sad.

What a life she lived though and from what I've seen recently, she seemed like a very decent person.

RIP.
Same feeling here. It's the nostalgia aspect and the fact that all the news on this and seeing all the old photos and footage makes you think of getting old yourself, I think.

It really is strange to be watching the footage and then realising that all this was happening 30 years before I was even born. When I was born the Queen was already in her fifties which is crazy and I'm 42.

Time is a strange thing.

What we are witnessing is a well oiled operation of a house in order which many households should follow

Closing the forum was the most bizarre thing I've come across yet. What was that supposed to achieve? Were we being kept from being glued to the TV screens watching the endless coverage? There are members who aren't even British, why were they being denied access? I'll never understand that move.

I don't suppose you have to understand it, but you certainly had to accept it. End of story really
