Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Closing the forum was the most bizarre thing I've come across yet. What was that supposed to achieve? Were we being kept from being glued to the TV screens watching the endless coverage? There are members who aren't even British, why were they being denied access? I'll never understand that move.
All citizens have to be sad for the 10 day mourning period. No exceptions. No laughter. No entertainment. You will comply. Non-conformists will be shipped off to the nearest republic.

The majority of post-deah traditions, whether royalty or commoner are for those left behind, not the deceased person. When I am gone I don't care what people do - they can dance naked in the streets if they wish. It is the same for Elizabeth II, we do what we do for our own beliefs feelings and traditions rather than what she wished for.
She'd probably want to us care a little bit more about the people (young and old) in our own communities who die on a daily basis and get ignored.

But alas this is a strange country, where faux emotions for people you've never met and who have had little to no impact on your life apparently count for more than real emotions.

Watching the Accession Council, all seems totally pointless - a ceremony for a different age when we didn't have social media, the internet and 24/7 news - we all know he's the King!
Honestly some of the ceremony and procedure in this country really needs to be modernised.

I was going to post a rant about forums being closed and the avatars being changed. North Korean style mournography. Grassroots football cancelled, what does that achieve except build resentment.
Feel free to delete this post, but having all this foisted on us is just bizarre in my opinion

I feel sad for the kids who have been messed around with Covid and now have weeks more disruption. Especially because it doesn’t fit the queens values.

Interesting watching the proclamation.

Hell no. This is part of what makes our country special. They need to keep this thing going for the next 1000 years.

The BoE delaying the next interest rate decision will affect more people than the Queen did her entire life. That's the ridiculousness that's annoying me the most about this.

It's sad that an old lady has passed away (same day as the 25th anniversary of my own nan passing too), but it should be restricted to that. The country is in too dire a position to be faffing about with all this nonsense.

I was surprised the forums closed, but in hindsight doing it out of respect, to allow time for people not to let emotions spill over, and give time to sort out admin stuff is OK.

If you can’t step away without angst from the forums for an entire 24 hours may I suggest that doesn’t sound too healthy.

Most people are sad about her death, not necessarily due to her individually, but for what she stood for and held together, now we’ll have the self destructive socialist progressives destroying everything unabated, it’s started already..

When you can’t see anything but the bad in everything and want to project your entitled negative misery so vocally and social media platforms amplify that, it’s not a good thing and it will be the ruination of our wonderful society, something that the Queens passing has really emphasised.

We do have bigger fish to fry.
