Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

I don't think it's neither cool or edgy to be anti-royal, It's just an establishment and tradition many don't see the value in. In the same line of thought, being a royalist doesn't make you any more patriotic than someone who is more of a republican.
I do wish people wouldn't do this, you personally or even those around you are not "many". Only 13% of people think the monarchy is 'bad' for Britain and even if you want to define "value" in some alternative manner it's still overwhelmingly positive.
I've looked at the pixels, and I'm pretty sure that's a photoshop.
Indeed...

I found this quite interesting. Shows it was pretty much chaos.

land potentially not true. I’m friends with a senior civil servant and she told me the note at12.21 was that London Bridge is down and the queen had died. Its just they weren’t allowed to tell anybody until later. The afternoon was spent putting preparations in place.

Also of constitutional interest is that only Liz Trust had been sworn in as PM before the queen died and none of her new cabinet have yet and now won’t be until after the Queens funeral so technically we don’t have a Government atm.

I saw the OcUK forums close for 24 hours as a mark of respect, then I was away for a couple of days so posting now. What an iconic character, with her input for the Commonwealth / world and having out-lived most people. RIP Elizabeth II.

The Mumsnet forums on the other hand remained live for those first 24 hours and some of the posts on there were disgusting and yet weren't moderated out.

Great job OcUK Dons with the content here and love the temporary avatars you've given us.

Can't understand why people live life through a phone screen. The queens coffin passes by, and I'd say a good 40-50% both young and odd are watching it through phones.

I’m personally so upset that I won’t be able to go and see the coffin. My health is too poor I can’t physically make it. It’s something me and my brother talked about doing for years, and now I cant. It’s really got to me!

Didn't they say that Truss was officially told at 16:30 that she had died?
Was reading elsewhere today though that it seems Truss did know fairly early that it was "imminent", even before she went into the Commons for the Energy speech

I was curious to know how much Queen Elizabeth II was worth at the time of her death, so I looked it up. Turns out her net wealth was $600 million, which means she didn't even qualify as a billionaire.
The head of state owns all the beaches and since the coastline of UK is infinite depending on how you measure it the wealth is incomparable. Its just standing asset wealth and almost all of it is hereditary with some revenue which can be large but yep not really the standard billionaire/wealth argument just land that really represents the assets of UK itself in some way.
Most relevant news I heard was a deal done on Wind Power, its off shore but in effect the Queen owns that land and of course it was put to good use so I dont really credit it to the wealth of one person especially.

I don't understand why the £14.1billion worth Crown Estate is not included in her worth, it would be like excluding Tesla or SpaceX from Elon Musk's worth

It's a technicality but the Crown Estate isn't a part of the Monarchs private wealth. They can't for example sell bits of it off as they could with their private holdings. It's held and administrated by the Crown Estates Office, a private corporation, for the benefit of the Treasury with a yearly stipend paid the to Monarchy.
