Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Completely agree. I'll stick with the memory of having been there and witnessed events with my own eyes.
maybe the people at the back of the crowds couldn't see and used the phones to see it go by. I went to an Iron Maiden concert a few years back and there was a quite short girl next to where we were and her boyfriend was holding up his phone so she could see. Once people around her realised, we all sort of made a gap so she could see without the phone.

I was in a rural area where the crowds weren't too densely packed. Many of the people recording the cortege didn't have anyone in front of them / blocking the view. As I said earlier, it's a sign of the times. Many people now are married to their smartphones and don't know how to survive without them.

Nah, people are just glued to the phone front or back makes no difference. Its like they just went along to WhatsApp it to their mates and post it on Facebook.

just seen the coffin being carried into where ever it was, those men/woman carrying that..... sod that. I couldn't do it, far too much riding on it.

The pall bearers near as damn it dropped Churchill's coffin. I have been a pall bearer of just a good solid oak coffin with a robust corpse within and I have great sympathy with their task!

I’m not glued to my phone in a way I walk down the street using it. If people can’t understand that I don’t respond to texts asap, it’s tough. Texts etc don’t self distrust in 5 seconds

Isn't it lead lined as well, must be fairly heavy

This is ten plus fit and hefty men having a near disaster at Churchill's State funeral, I can't remember what a top notch lead lined coffin weighs, but these big lads had their work cut out!

EDIT: Princess Diana's lead lined coffin weighed a quarter of a ton.

It's not like the video capture on a phone is so great anyway, at a distance - just seems a lack of respect / education
... some of the recent concerts where they have banned/bagged phones have the right idea.

( I can understand if King Charles wants a weekly zoom call with Truss though, especially following their tour
... in the spirit of the hotel thread what time do we meet up for breakfast King Charles )

I am willing to buy a glossy Queen tribute magazine with photos of her in her life and the various stages of taking her coffin to the funeral. They did similar when it was the Platinum Jubilee.

Professional photos too

I would like one too, I’m gutted I haven’t been able to get to the shops to pick up a newspaper to keep

Or maybe they just wanted to record a once in a lifetime event for prosperity so future generation can get a sense of what it was like, much like how we still look at picture and the film of the coronation because most of weren't there.

I’m 50/50 about the mobile phones. It does look ghastly but tonight I’ve been watching peoples recordings from Windsor yesterday which capture what the Wales’ and Sussexes were saying to the public and vice versa. Quite endearing. And none of that was picked up on TV mics.
