got the mvh head strap. nowhere near as stable or comfortable as the ali express halo strap. will relegate it to the backup head strap for extended gaming due to ease of battery attachment but for me the ali express jobbie wins hands down on comfort, looks and stability.
im tempted to give the elite strap ago, hopefully as its official one, it will sort my problems out
really want to get back into VR, its been weeks, until i get a comfy strap..
I saw your picture Shi Warrior, but didn't have a chance to comment yesterday evening.
After doing a lot of trial and error, I finally got the MVH strap to fit comfortably. It's a real struggle to get it right. It's too configurable.
You aren't going to believe this Shi, but, the way you had it on in your photo was wrong. The back strap is too low. I know why it's uncomfortable. It's pulling the forehead strap and the top strap hard against your head. And I bet the headset keeps slowly sinking down on your nose and cheeks unless you overtighten it to the max. And that causes all it's own pain issues after a while.
There is a happy medium where it isn't so low, but not so high that it's practically another top strap. But, on some heads you can't find that spot. It has to either go too high or too low. This is what was happening to me.
So I went back to the drawing board. And this is what I came up with.
As you can see I have gone back to Unseul's method with using the top strap from the Original Stock strap. But I have made a few other modifications.
1. I have done away with the back strap. Haven't removed it completely. When I get a battery, I will decide then. If you can't get into the right position on your head, it's redundant. It also takes away from the whole way that the head mount works, which is why I had to go back to using the Top strap from the stock strap to link the headset back to the counter weight.
2. I filled the cloth covering the forehead strap with as much bubble wrap as I could fit and still get the cover back on. My intention is to put some memory foam strips in when I get them.
3. Currently using the VR cover to make top strap more comfortable. Again, I will replace this with a memory foam strap when I get one. Make sure what you use is wider than the top strap. Covering the top strap is very important for the comfort of these modifications, as it takes a lot of the weight.
4. I have placed two foam strips on the battery holder. Positioning is important. Both strips have to be against your head when the head mounted is tightened and the weight of the headset pulls against it.
5. When you have the head mount on, the forehead strap should be as low as possible, just above your eyebrows.
It's really tricky with all the pieces you have to get just right if you want it as comfortable as possible. I found the best way to set it all up was to wear the head mount while looking at a mirror. Also, have the headset attached, but without the facial interface attached. Leave the side arms loose to start off, adjust the top strap first. Sort of going back to the original Civ 1 fitting, where you would get the tighten the top strap first, then the side straps.
