Can I ask why you didn't wait to see the announcement first given the three day window? Im worried if I wait for the announcement they might then refuse to buy or completely revalue on a grade down? Ive never dealt with them before.

How long did it take from when you dropped it off and did they call you about the grade down or do it there and then?
 
Thinking of selling my Quest to CEX as well. If you do the sell online but take it in to a shop to do the deal how long do you have to get it there?
I won't be ale to get to my local CEX before Saturday.

Its 3 days but what Im unclear on is the risk that they will honour the price once the information is out later.

I don't know what to do. Do I take it now and get my price or do I wait till the announcement. If the announcement is £299 then CEX would be silly not to immediately start refusing to take Quest 1s?

I already decided that I want to upgrade to the quest 2 so I thought I should sell it while the price is still good. They confirmed the downgrade in store which I was happy to accept as I knew it wasn't grade a, just trying my luck!

How long did it take from when you dropped it off and did they call you about the grade down or do it there and then?

They confirmed the downgrade while I was in store. I know I want to get the quest 2 so I didn't see any point waiting and risking getting a lower price.

Well yeah but IF the performance is not as leaked, or IF the price is higher than leaked, then its not as a good a proposition. My scenario at the moment is selling the Q1 for £292 and buying the Q2 for £299 so only a £7 cost to change. Its a no brainer then. But IF the price is £399 like the original quest then I'll have to find an extra £107 on top so a cost to change of £107* compared to £7.

No, maths doesn't work like that, it either costs you £7 to change, or £107 pounds, or you apply the "loss" of the original cost of your Q1 to both (£107 or £207).
 
I'm currently studying afor a Ph.D in VR (education field). I'm going to keep my Quest and the kids can use it plus I still need it for dev purposes as my lab has a fleet of Quests (and Go's) that we use for studies. Dont want to develop apps for the Quest 2 only to find out the performance is rubbish on the original Quest.

Thank you for confirming.

Just been on their website and according to their T&C's they can refuse to buy at any time and also their online price quotations are subject to change without prior notice.
Still worth a punt though I think, if they drop the price I'll walk away and try selling privately instead though depending on the reveal today the price may well plummet!

Just wish I didn't have to enter my bank details online to continue the sale, would rather do that part at the store :(
