Quest 3 accessories thread

MMmm, I dont MR/AR at the mo, so will hold that thought for now then..

One thing I have noticed though, if you have a different interface, in my case the AMVR one, it can limit the ability to flip the headset up which is a bit of a pita..

Does the buzz only effect the BOBOVR battery as my KKCOBVR one is silent..

Many headstrap batteries and battery packs were making the buzzing sound when the Q3 first came out. Since then some manufacturers have improved the batteries to eliminate the buzz.

Thd KK one has never B08L3KS8CQ

Due to it being cooler now I have gone back to the std facepad, no fans. That enables the flip feature.

I refunded the BOBOVR headset, not happy overall. The KK one hasn't buzzed.

I chatted with the company and they assured me when I was about to buy mine that Amazon had ver 2 of the headset in stock, only, at Amazon. You can tell the difference as the ver 2 has a choke like suppressor in the wiring that plugs from the rear to the charge port on the Q3.

Zero buzzing when in use for me.

Thanks. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Have you noticed any buzzing ? I ordered it last night and there's loads of complaints on amazon reviews about some batches causing the battery to constantly buzz.
Nope it's silent and I have excellent hearing (shame about the rest of me :D)

Could have sworn that we used to have a sad "like" to leave as a reaction.?

Sorry, if you are going through things, apart from your hearing.!
Nah no worries I meant it as a silly jibe at my ageing and degrading body! Tbh I'm pretty healthy nowdays, totally unfit but healthy i.e. of able body and sound mind I'm really lucky tbh, thankyou for your concern though.

Don't worry about Tykey, he is uploading himself into the cloud to become an AI called Thistle. A more advanced AI than SimonRigga, who is just a substandard beta model.

:p:cry:

Got the KKCOBVR delivered. No buzzing and comfortable fit.

It does look massive though. The small factor goes out the window. Guess that's the draw back of needing extra battery life.

I'm yet to test it but it's doesn't feel as secure as the basic strap. I'm wary of the plastic knobs breaking if I tighten them too much. Because of the weight, if you look down or up quickly it slides a little. Maybe I haven't messed around with it enough.

I have been reliably informed...

"Scorpius implanted a very similar system in John Crichton." @drakulton

so, you are in good company with that headset. :D

We all have differing sizes of heads and faces etc, that's probably why certain face pads fit better for some than others.

Just ensure that the rear part, where the battery goes, is slid down the rear of the head far enough, you might need to loosen the top strap to enable that. Especially if you have a bloaty head.
I tighten those knobs a bit each time I use it, because it is a shared headset the size gets changed. They seem pretty robust.
I did buy an additional battery tho, that has been useful to hot-swap as needed.

I have to admit, I have nearly jumped into an aftermarket strap / face interface a few times. But I've never quite hit to buy button because it feels like a bit of a shame losing the incredibly small form factor of the standard set. Everything behind the face being fabric is excellent for storage!

Shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't work. though you can get silicone skins for the standard versions which are much cheaper.

Ordered the eBay one to try out. Thanks

Personally I use this one, KKCOBVR Q3 Pro Battery Strap, as do a few others..

It allows you to flip the unit up without actually having to take it off to see what you are doing and the battery pack offsets the weight of the unit on the front of the head, which helps when playing for long periods of time, which you can do with the battery pack, although, personally I haven't played anything long enough to run the stock battery down..

Oh, and one thing I will say, if you are looking for other accessories, there are some things you can get in bundles, so look for those rather than buying things as singles..

Picked up my quest 3 today and have this same strap coming next Tuesday on prime deal. Anything else worth considering? (will mainly be used wired for sim racing rig but wanted a battery pack to show it off to people, I do wear glasses btw)

I didnt buy special lenses for mine, but I did get the clip on protectors that give you a few mm buffer so if your glasses touch the inside of the headset they don't touch the lens itself, they worked, but then I decided that I didnt need my glasses for VR, depending on what glasses you wear, or if others use the headset then you need to decide which way you go on that front.

Facial interface.
I got the AMVR one, its better, for me at least, than the stock one, it has vent holes in it to aid cooling or fog build up if you have that issue, for me, I get a bit of light coming in through the vents, and, tbh I'm not a huge fan of how it adjusts vs the stock one, not sure if others share that or not, there is always the option of just swapping the stock pad out for something else, or going full hog and getting a face scanned one.

Protective stuff.
I also bought some controller grips, and a headset protective clip on cover, and the AMVR face interface comes with one of those padded lens cover things which arent a bad idea...

Also got the Aubika carry case for when its leaving the house.

As a side to that above, I also printed a wall mount kit for the controllers and the headset itself from Thingiverse, I had to mod it slightly though as the headset didn't sit properly with the new headstrap.

Facial interface.
I got the AMVR one <snip> I'm not a huge fan of how it adjusts vs the stock one, not sure if others share that or not,

Same here, have the AMVR facial interface, and when someone with glasses needs to use the headset, I have to completely remove the facial interface to adjust the depth. Whereas the stock facial interface has buttons to change the depth, which is much simpler.

I don't get any issues with light leak though, and it's much improved enough over the standard facial interface, for the adjustment issue to not make me go back to the standard one.

My first AMVR face pad arrived damaged. But I was not overly impressed. The second seemed ok but the adjustment process for depth control is pretty bad and quite fragile in how it is implemented.
More so if multiple users are using it.
I ended up with a fan based face pad that has rotary controls either side to vary depth control on the fly. BUT it will not allow the KK head strap to tilt up when wearing, if that is important.
I got some Kiwi grips for the controllers, they are decent.

That's my worry with buying the AMVR interface. The quality control is abysmal.
