Quest 3 owners etc

So random thought before I try various things.

My router 5ghz and 2.8ghz is under the same name and password. I'm certain I've connected to the 5ghz element because it says 5ghz 1200mbs in the troubleshooter.

Shouldn't be a problem right or change the name ?

Mine is the same, as you note it shows connected at 5Ghz.
I am on a channel not shared with other nearby signals and it is not overloaded.

With the tools you have already used, like VD, that should have told you a lot about latencies etc, if they apply and your WiFi connection etc.

Good luck.

Did you mention already the router you are using.?

Fixed :)

In order of what I did:

1. Update drivers
2. Reviewed oculus files got rid of any historic temp folders.
3. Restarted pc.
4. Restarted router and switch.
5. Connected via link cable tested this- bizarrely it asked me to re-identify the quest 3 even though it was paired already. Link cable worked fine.
6. Tested airlink - this time no lag , few odd artifacts but working.
7. Went back to VD. Put manual bitrate put it up to 150.
8. Tested hf alyx. All fixed.
9. Put up graphics to high - no issues.

Thanks all.

Now when do you guys meet up for your weekly vr gaming night?

Monday's at 8pm. Walkabout mini golf, private room, name is: ocuk

So I've taken up the free 3 months meta sub. The mixed reality game Bam! is awesome. That same feeling when I first tried the quest 2 , that wow moment.

Any mixed reality games people recommend ?

On a different note. The option to choose depth to allow glasses to fit is such a welcome option.

Facebook has been throwing adverts at me recently about using gamepass via the Quest 3. But no real details of how that's supposed to work. Anyone done it and know?

I got the impression that the idea was playing pancake games but on a 'big screen' within your virtual environment. But I wasn't sure.

Yes that's it. There's a Gamepass app in the Meta store.

Interesting! I hadn't spotted that.
The ad did seem to suggest that you needed to have gamepass Ultimate, rather than just gamepass for PC. Although I'm not sure why that would be the case.

Edit: Unless via that app it's basically playing XBox game pass games, rather than PC game pass games?

That might be the case. I don't have gamepass so I'm not sure.

I've done a bit more digging. The reason it's only for Ultimate game pass owners is because it isn't putting the game on the Quest at all - it's streaming it.
This is their cloud gaming service working on the Quest.

Definitely interesting, but Ultimate is a fair bit more expensive that standard PC Game Pass I think.
Obviously this also means online only.

Is there a way to have your desktop + additional meta panels together?

For example if I'm at the Meta default landing. I can go to browser and add multiple windows e.g. Microsoft office via Web/ email.

However , things like youtube via browser or via app (in panel mode) are 90% sharp but that 10% means it's not good enough for text heavy videos.

Whereas if I go through virtual desktop it's sharp.

So what would be great is virtual desk as a "panel" and option of adding further meta screens for "lite" things.

I realised you can do this by putting the experimental feature on that let's you keep meta panels up.

So you bring up desktop via VD. Then back out of it with the oculus button. Placing any additional screens around.

I may be in danger of getting addicted to Puzzling Places.
It would be just like me to drop £450 on a VR headset and then use it to do jigsaws. I did the same thing when I got my Switch and found myself almost exclusively playing logic puzzle games on it. :)

Someone above called it a mixed reality game though - does that mean no game background, just seeing your room through it? And if so, is there a setting I'm missing, because it's showing a full game view for me.

The controls on this game are absolutely perfect though. I know it's only a jigsaw, but you feel like Tom Cruise from Minority Report it's so slick. :)
