Quest 3 owners etc

Thanks. Could you remember what?
Check the video below at the 9:01 point. I've not watched the whole thing so don't know about the other advice in it (just points out where I mean) but he selects fixed, selecting dynamic fixed my issue.

In the oculus app debug tool "dynamic bitrate setting max" I have 0 when using airlink and about 800 when linked.

When taking a photo, can't remember the detail, but is there going to be a feature that allows 16:9 landscape aspect ratio rather than something like 4:3 we have now..?

Is that in the V 71 up and coming firmware..?

Thanks

Edit

Grrr can't update a game due to not having enough space.......This 128GB has soon all but gone...!

There are features in the V71 PTC (crash test channel) that allow you to change the aspect ratio. You might be able to upgrade to V71 using the meta update tool

or there's an alternative method that allows you to upgrade to the latest version, as the badly named cocaine website the has v71 update.

Thanks.

At this point I'm not in a rush to try the PTC channel, I now reckon that the 16:9 photo option is there.

I have used the Meta update too, it only tells you what version it is about to install when I have connected the headset and about to do so. Typically it is the mainstream version.

I once went through the coke website option and it got stuck half way through and ended abruptly. That is when I used the official Meta one to get back to V68, iirc, at the time. Thankfully that worked.

I'll just wait for V71 to drop.

I was using the Wander app I just bought and it would have been nice to have captured some images in 16.9.
Surprised at what I saw really, nice to capture it tho in 16.9.

These should have been day one features when the Q2 first came out, like recording in 4K and stereoscopic 3D recording. But we still have to use third party apps to get these features.

@drakulton thanks for those links, still watching the second video.
Having only got a VR headset for the first time since mid July there isn't much history there on the development over the various revisions.
I was surprised to note recently that MR for the Q2 was B and W.

But something like the screenshot aspect ratio I noted should be fairly basic, 16.9 being quite standardised.
I have been able to capture some 4.3 images and share them via WhatsApp within the headset.

I might get curious at some point about the PTC V71. Is that part of creating a dev account or something different.?
Is it considered stable enough.?

Thanks

The public test channel is a bit like window insider program where features and bugs are rolled out early and trialled by the community. Some features make it to the official builds and some don't. If you want to joint the PTC you can do it in the mobile app.

Thanks, in particular about certain stability issues being noted....

If you leave the PTC you will more often than not have to factory reset your headset. Not as much of an issue as it used to be as cloud saving of game saves is now implemented. It's a bit of a faff if you have got loads of sideloaded apps or other content though.

Whilst I was in chat with Meta regarding my left controller I happened to ask about the PTC channel, V 71 in particular, and the ability to go back to the stable branch. They came back with....

PTC updates can generally be reversed and brought back to a previous version, if not then factory resetting might help. However there can be certain technical issues at times that could lead to a device being stuck on the PTC version.

...not sure at this point if I am encouraged to test that out..!

Just learnt Metro is Q2 compatible, so not aiming for the Q3 with its extra oomph, even if there's a few nicer textures or something imo it's often the case there's not much difference, whereas Batman is a Q3 exclusive? I know where my moneys going despite previously looking forward to Metro more than Batman.
