Quest 3 owners etc

I had the one without dials, left a review on Amazon, and they refunded me, so I can't say anything bad about the CS side of things. They clearly knew they had an issue if they had redesigned the thing.

I've just had the Apexxinno facial interface turn up because while I was away, I was directly under a spotlight and could see light leaking into the headset using the Globular Cluster FI, I'm also tempted to try the new AMVR one as another issue that seems to be cropping up with the Globulat Cluster one is headsets cracking, presumably there's some sort of FI fit issue with the GLobular which is putting more pressure on the headset that required, check out Reddit for more info...

Have any of you guys got the latest AMVR interface with the two dials on it ?

I haven't got this as my original AMVR interface is still performing without issues. But if you had the new one coupled with a KKOBVR adjustable headstrap, then you'd have more knobs than you'd know what to do with.

I've got the KKCOBVR head strap. The original AMVR FI stopped me from being able to flip up the headset, and I suspect the new one would do the same.

Tempted to get it anyway as then I've got most of the popular FI's and can do a comparison...

Good to know. I was so unimpressed with the original AMVR that I had not tested the flip up possibility. Then again I probably was not aware that my KK head strap could do that at the time...!

Still no v71 for me - stuck on v69. It's a shame there isn't an easier force update option

Yeah, bit of a shame really.

Thanks, I watched this last night and it looks simple but at the same time is FAFFO compared to the auto update. Will see if I get it by the weekend and if not will try the force update

The meta update tool takes minutes, the previous video method is a little more involved.

It was / is the case though that you have to go quite far in that process before you find out that in all probability you are going to flash what you already have, V69. I have used that process twice, to end up where I started.

I used to look forward to updates, but Meta break loads of stuff now. They release updates with known issues from the PTC that haven't been resolved.

live dangerously..... update roulette.

And if you have Pro controllers (they work on the Quest 3 too) you run the risk of bricking them with every firmware update, and if you're out of warranty all Meta will do is sell you a refurb controller with a three month warranty for £140... when you can get a new one with a year's warranty for about £150.

How are the screens? Tempted to get one and use as standalone, just worried I’m spoilt by oled

Can't speak to OLED, but can speak to the lenses, they're amazing. Clarity from edge to edge basically. Look with your eyes, not having to keep your eyes forward and looking with your head etc.

The screens are very sharp and high resolution You have a hard time seeing the individual pixels. If you're coming from OLED you'll think they're quite washed out and the blacks pretty grey, but they have implemented a dynamic contrast adjust which at least means dark scenes look less grey than before.

Of course OLED isn't perfect either - for example the PSVR2 has awful mura, and the apparent resolution can look lower due to the pentile subpixel arrangement.

The lenses are amazing, very clear, edge to edge.
