Have you installed the ADB drivers to the PC?

Yes I have installed the drivers and just now reinstalled SQ again. Immediately after the SQ install, pairing with wifi adb enabled and leaving the USB cable connected to the PC, I can actually change resolution successfully (screen blinks) but as soon as I disconnect the USB I get the "Unable to connect" error if I try to make another change. Odd. I've no idea why it is trying to connect to anything as I thought it was all standalone within the headset at that point.

It has to be connected to the PC to make changes, once the changes are made you can disconnect. The changes will remain until you turn the headset off.

Ahhh. OK. That does not make much sense. I reconnected the headset via USB and restarted the headset, started SQ, attempt to make a device setting change and same issue?! I've seen vids on yt which suggest it does not need to be reconnected?! Currently, I have to uninstall and reinstall SQ to make any changes, after the immediate install. As soon as I restart the headset even with USB connected, same issue.

I'm even more confused.

There is a mobile version that you can put on the headset but it has less functionality than the PC version

That's the version I'm attempting and failing to setup. It's referred to as the Web Installer version on the SQ download page. I think I'll just give up on it for now (:

Download the PC version, connect headset to PC, flash changes to headset, disconnect headset, don’t turn off headset to keep changes.

I get it but just seems a bit if faff if there is an option when you could just launch the SQ app within the headset itself and make the changes. As I say; I'll park it for now as I've got a beer on the go!

It's crazy that Alyx (2020) is still heads and tails above everything else. No other VR title comes close.

I'm hoping Valve release another banger with their upcoming headset.

Aye. Only Valve could produce such a polished full blown 15+ hour game VR game without any real consideration to the development costs or care whether it recouped those costs (which I'm damn sure they did over time).

There is also a wireless mode on SideQuest. You need to be connected via USB to enable it but then it should be good until the next reboot.

I've no clue. I thought, perhaps wrongly, SQ could be sideloaded on to the headset and the various refresh rates/resolutions modes could be selected on the headset without a need for the connectivity to the PC. I may have got the wrong end of the stick (most likely). I mean, SQ is seemingly loaded on to the headset, I can launch it and presumably any games I've downloaded? (I've not yet). However I'm now 4 beers in, so any sensible revisit is beyond my control (tonight).

I'm not sure the SQ headset app has access to ADB commands downloaded on to the headset without using a third part file manager app like Mobile VR station.
The Ocular Migraine app has many haedset settings that can be changed in the headset without a PC

Hi all. Just picked up a quest 3s for the kids Christmas. I really wanted one for myself, but kids also wanted one.
So, I'm thinking I need a strap and maybe one that has a built in battery pack. Don't want to spend a fortune so any recommendations?
Also, are a lot of shooter games kid friendly? As in, no swearing.
I'm desperate to hook it to my PC and play squadrons, also heard elite dangerous has a vr mode. Any other gems?

The KKCOBVR Q3 PRO Battery Head Strap is what few of us have and happy with it.

Make sure to claim the free £23 referral code off any of us here - just pm.

I'd say most shooters are but depends on you kids age and your comfort levels e.g gore/violence.

:cry::cry::cry:

I never even knew there was a VR machine back in the 50's/60's  till i googled "old VR Machine" and clicked the images tab

I'm disappointed there isn't more recognition for the Gentleman's Stereoscopic Phonographic Kinetic Stimulator. Yes hardly anyone had mains electricity back then and you still needed a manservant to work the plunger, but the etchings were superb and by God it made you proud to be British.

Once SideQuest is set up on the PC you can sideload it onto your headset (pretty sure there's an install button on there somewhere). I can't comment on changing settings though as that's not what I use it for.
