Quest 3 owners etc

My Q3 died on me today, thankfully just temporary. It just switched off as i was loading a game, it wouldn't switch back on, thought oh no it's dead. Oculus app wouldn't recognize it, my pc didn't recognize it, thought here we go again another return. Googled Quest 3 died and seen it's happened to a few people, remedy is to long press (20 secs) the power button.

On another note i'm loving the passthrough in certain games. Been playing miracle pool and thrill of the fight on the concreted area of my garden. The pool game is ace (and free), who needs a real pool table? Thrill of the fight i i feel i couldn't play safely without passthrough, just too much risk of hitting and breaking something when in full vr mode.

Played Half Life Alyx last night for the first time, so impressive is an understatement.

My pc is running a RTX2070 Super, surprised how well it handles it via Virtual Desktop.

Cheers all

It's amazing how older PC VR games stand up on these higher resolution headsets.

You can see details which were never clear before and many of the older Oculus titles like Lone Echo 1 & 2, Asgard's Wrath (Free with Q3) can give HL Alyx a run for the money, plus they were designed to run on older GPUs so tend to be quite performance friendly, even when viewed at higher resolutions.

What's more incredible is you can do this wirelessly.

If you get the q3, you have effectively preordered aw2, which comes with aw1. AW1 is a rift game, so you'll only see it on your PC oculus software.

I realise it would be a huge effort but I’m kind of annoyed they didn’t port the original version of Asgards wrath so it runs natively on the Quest 3.

I, like many Quest owners I suspect, don’t have a PC capable of running it so it’s not something I can use currently.

It's a free gift, on a free gift... are you really upset? One day you may well have a PC that can run it.

I guarantee you, if they had somehow managed to port it, they'd absolutely not be giving it away for free.

That is true I suppose. They seem surprisingly reluctant to port older Oculus titles to the Quest. I’m still hoping that we might get a Quest native version of Lone echo at some point.

I’m sure they’d sell well if they did port them across. Maybe one day!

Hey

Just wondering if someone would be willing to try this for me? I’m in touch with meta about a possible replacement, but that is my absolute last resort.
Hey one last Hail Mary on this. Losing my mind over this very strange thing I’m having. If anyone could give this a go that’d be great. I really can’t be bothered to start a return over this, but I will if I have to

Just tried, as long as I go back to pointing my index finger straight out, it returns to pointing. If I leave my index finger hovering in front of the trigger (not touching), it remains bent as it's following the finger.

Huh, mine sometimes stays pretty bent even when my finger is fully extended. Bit of an odd one.
