Yeah I bought it yesterday.
Was using sidequest before to increase resolution but that does it system wide and not per app.
Also to restore to default settings it requires restarting the headset.
With QGO in can be done per app and I also like the framerate counter that can be enabled.
Definitely must have tool.

Yeah, I've been using QGO for a week or two and changing resolution per game. Which games have you increased resolution and perhaps cpu and gpu as well and did you find your character walking or running was visually shuddering/jittering or still as smooth as the default settings?

I used it for Tales from the Galaxy's Edge and it worked perfectly, no shuddering.

Yeah it’s game dependent, some games you can crank up resolution really high and it’s fine while others start to stutter even when slightly increased.
So far I’ve done Cubism and Beat Sabre with really good results.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear, that it's game dependent. I'll see how it goes with Beat Saber when I increase the resolution. By the way, my games that weren't smooth by using QGO didn't stutter, it's just that the 3rd person character I was moving was slightly juddering or shaking as she moved forward.

Oh ok I didn’t try any third person games.
Have you changed refresh rate as well.? Because it could be that the character animation is tied to certain refresh rate.

Well I just clicked on the HD+ preset that the developer had presumably created so I was surprised it had this issue. I'll try messing with the refresh rate, that's a good suggestion.

The HD+ preset lowers the framerate in favour of resolution IIRC. (so it'll drop a natively 90hz game to 72hz, for example)

Ah I didn't know that. I haven't tried playing with the refresh rate yet. Hopefully I can increase the resolution and keep the native refesh rate without any issues.

I've managed to improve things dramatically with MSFS2020 by disabling the 120hz option in the headset.

However I'm getting crackling through the headset in conjunction with micro stutters (that I'm busy trying to eliminate) I never had that with the Rift S - the crackling with the stutters, you had the on screen micro stutter at times but no accompanying noise.

That seems to imply the bitrate or quality is set too high.
 
I’ve got a Quest 2 at the moment and particularly enjoy playing After the Fall at the moment. I’m like a kid in a candy store with tech, but typically a penny sweet budget (ie, I have to prioritise luxury purchases if they’re justifiable to me).

Could someone explain the main differences between the Quest 3 and 2? I’m aware of the front facing cameras making Mixed Reality a…… well, reality. But what improvements can I hope to see playing PCVR? Increase in resolution? Are the lenses better? Bigger sweet spots? Less halo’ing? Better native games?

Way better lenses, way better graphics, way better mixed reality, way better PC connectivity, way smaller, way better really in just about every way.

Let's just say if you got a Quest 3, then went back to Quest 2 you would consider the 2 clunky, blurry, low resolution, uncomfortable and slow.

BTW on the recommendation earlier in the thread I got the 4xVR video player and tried it with an MVC MKV that I generated from the Avatar 2 blu-ray.
I thought my SBS version was good, but this looks incredible! More detailed and even preserves the subtle artificial film grain that the original has. Playback at 72hz (On Quest Pro, not 3 as I haven't got one yet) is very smooth. 3D is very good too, and I like the different screen curvatures you can select.
The only issue is it doesn't seem to support local dimming on Pro, and I need to check if that's the case and flag with the developer.
It's so good I paid for the Pro version, which can also stream off my network drive.
 
picked up HL alyx and walkabout minigolf for steam vr with them both being on offer :D the strap has to be the worst strap on any vr headset yet surely ? got a new strap on order and will attach a slim 30w output usb bank to the back of it. where are the settings on the quest 3 for 120fps ?

120hz is enabled by default so it will work out of the box in supported games and apps (might need to be enabled within apps themselves).
 
I see that the Quest 2 has now been reduced to £250, a fair amount of tech though getting on a bit for that price. Don't see any reduction on the 3 though.

Ravenger did you get the 3 since I believe you have the pro, and if so, how do they compare to each other?
