Quest 3 preview

What are the pros / cons of each?

No pros of single panels for users. Pros for meta are a single panel is much cheaper.

Cons are that a single panel has a narrower FOV, and can lose resolution and restrict the IPD range due to the way the lenses move over the panel

Dual panels allow bigger FOV and support more IPDs, and can use more of the panel resolution, but of course are more expensive for Meta to make.

Quest 2 is sold - £165 for 64GB on the bay. I don't think CEX will make the same mistake as last time offering decent trade in prices.

One month to go before pre-orders :)

Not a bad price. You going to get the 128GB version of the Quest 3 or the 256GB?

Standalone games seem to be taking up much more space!!

I would consider a Quest3 if the specs are decent, which broadly speaking would be a Quest Pro with higher resolution, much bigger FoV and DisplayPort connection to PCVR. After that then cameras for hand tracking and yeah AR sounds nice but its a long way down the list of priorities. The basics need to be there though cant be dealing with narrow FoV and meh resolution just cos the standalone processing limits them.

this wont be a quest 3 then. i doubt the quest 3 will have as big a fov as quest pro........ rumours are the quest pro 2 is cancelled, which sucks if so. Meta have shown zero hints of implementing a displayport on their headsets and are more interested in wireless vr (which if it works well i cant argue as its amazing)

For a headset with those specs you would be paying well over £1000.

And you aren't going to get a display port connection for PCVR.

I just wish there was a Quest Pro 2 with Quest 3 innards but also keeping the QLED panels, 'hovering' lenses design, the eye and face tracking, and the Pro controllers.

I can see that for PC VR and some standalone game the Pro may be better than Q3 due to the panels, but the Q3 will be better supported, and will eventually have better standalone content.

It really boils down to though if the Q3 is single panel and the panel type.

If only they hadn't removed the Pro's depth sensor, then at least MR would be approximately equivalent.

Though I really hope Meta up their game with regards to firmware updates for Q3 because they're constantly breaking Airlink and the pro controllers on the Pro.

speculation Meta dropped the face and eye tracking over the data.
i'd always go for the larger of the 2 storage option unless i was only buying for like 1 game then i might consider saving.
i can see he high end model going for £750-800 ish, based on the base model being £500.
i might consider getting a quest 3 when its released and have spare capital
