queue at hollister shop today...

Seems like H is being pushed as some premium brand in the Uk whereas here in the US it's just a brand, decent shirts and jeans at average prices. If i was paying Uk prices for it i'd be wtf!

But it's pretty cheap? I don't think it's seen as a premium brand here - it's basically the same as superdry.

Saw a queue for this shop in the run up to Christmas, thought it was a bit of a laugh really.
When you can see three different people at different points in the queue, wearing exactly the same cruddy shirt, you know it's not the place to go. :D

Be an individual. Wear the same clothes as everyone else... *cough*

Hollister (like A+F and American Eagle) do sueded cotton tshirts. Hollister's are £20 and American Eagle can be had for less. They are extremely good quality, better than the paper-thin pap from Top Man, H&M and the chavista Primark.

They're owned by Philip Green aren't they? Not much more to say than that...

No, Philip Green is a Brit and his stores all fall under the Arcadia group... ie Topshop, Burton, Dorthy Perkins etc...

A&F/Hollister is owned by an American, Michael S. Jeffries. He's been fairly controversial as it is, he came under considerable fire for his excessive consumption of company funds for his own pleasure, along with numerous comments in the public domain that were controversial. He was also given some award for being the worst high paid corporate performer or something.

I seem to remember that he originally didn't want to bring A&F to Europe... this however is where it differs to any of Philip Green's stores, which are on every high street in the UK... the demand for A&F/Hollister goods will stay high in this country while they continue to operate just one store and a number of Hollister outlets.

Oh and he also looks like a cross between Boris Johnson and Gordon Ramsey on steroids.

My ex has a couple of t-shirts from there and they look great on her, fit her build perfectly. ;) Never seen anyone wear the same graphic as she has got before either.

I myself have never been in one, always laugh when I look at the stores with how dark they are and al the plants and stuff :D

I wouldn't consider it a chav brand at all, neither would I consider Super Dry, their quality is very good. Polo shirts especially! G-star i don't know about it's quality because I don't own any clothing by them, but I don't see many miscreants wearing that brand. Gio Goi on the other hand is most definitely a chav brand, horrid looking as well. Bench as well is in the same category as Gio Goi now I think as well. To be honest it does depend on the area of the country you're from as well I think.

A&F and Jack Wills stuff may be of amazing quality and some t-shirts are nice but it doesn't half get on my nerves. I would buy a pair of sweat pants to lounge around in the house and I understand why a girl would wear some out but rugby lads especially in uni walking around in sweat pants with flip flops... what the **** are you doing you prats!

Thing is I doubt any chavs from where I live have ever seen A&F or Jack Wills stuff in their lives and if they wanted it they couldn't afford it, stick to Gio Goi or Bench!

ugh...

Horrible, horrible clothes without the originality or range of more indie/cheap stores and without anything like the class of more upmarket labels. Entirely based upon brand image, people queue up and pay through the teeth to have an advert sewn across their chest generally.

The queues help people to feel like they're shopping from an exclusive store, then come out wearing the exact same thing as everyone else... The mind boggles really.

It's not like it's particularly fashionable either, all the "fashionistas" I know hate it with a passion. (IBTGayjokes)

It really makes me angry when I see morons buying clothes from North American stores, this is Europe, we have the best designers and the highest level of fashion, and you go to Abercombie and Fitch or some other rubbish. You disgust me.

Ah, that's right - i was getting confused between A&F and Dorothy Perkins.

I rate the quality of the clothes in comparison to the price. Been buying their stuff since about 2005 when visiting the US. Pleased to see a few shops appearing here and that they have not gone for premium pricing. Much better quality clothes than what you can get from comparable retailers. Think some of the UK T-shirts are hit and miss but you can't beat the hooded tops.

I'm not sure I agree with your rant really.

I mean the majority of people in this country buy their clothes from the high-street... they may have been British designed, but at the end of the day most are made in India/Thailand/Vietnam/China just like Abercrombie.

Following fashion trends properly is wasteful as most are just 'throw away fashion' which is why Topshop has done so well. It's fine for most young women who will wear it for a season, but they aren't quality garments that you can keep in your wardrobe forever.
