Racing Simulators

Thanks Skill. That makes more sense now. I did spend a lot of time off the track!

Got some practice laps in this morning and couldn't get anywhere near by previous best times. Lovin' the challenge though. I'm away on holiday for a week now so will have to wait until next Sunday to get more laps in :D.

Is this sim approachable for somebody who hasn't been outside of games you can get on Steam etc, I just got my G27 from OCUK and fancy something more real etc. It sounds like a lot of fun. :)

Try out LFS if you don't want to commit yet. The demo is the same download as the full game, you're just limited to 3 cars and 1 track. :)

Yes as long as you have a basic understanding of driving a real car, it kind of relates to the sim, my suggestion for anyone new to it...forget Qualifying all together for races, start from the back and follow people infront. But more important go to the live Practice sessions, this is where you can learn to your hearts content without worrying about ruining your SR or anyone elses if you smash into them, in these you can also follow people, and if there are some nice people there ask them to follow you for a few laps, and ask their advice what to do in what corner etc.

It sounds like a lot of fun. :)

If chasing people far faster than you and the pressure of having someone behind you for 30 minutes trying to overtake at every small mistake you make, worrying about spinning and losing Saftey rating.......then theres the irating etc etc,,,,,,,,,

I love it and it's the best, cleanest racing that I've ever had, YES it fun but in a very odd way for me(pressure pressure pressure lol)

I could not recommend it more if your after great racing(but I hated the rookie racing)

Be warned though it is quite addictive. Go on one more lap, I'm sure it'll be my best etc etc

I have calmed myself after a very frustrating day at LRP. Started the day @ SR 3:60, ended on 3:16 after 3 races.

nothing more frustrating than doing time trail going into the last corner .5 seconds quicker only to finish the lap .5 seconds down.....wtf? thinking how the hell did I take that last corner quicker......by a second??

Or coming to the last lap on a time trial and making some stupid mistake like going a tiny bit too wide and having to do all the laps again. i was pretty good at that :p

When doing time trials drive for the full session clean laps they dont need to be super fast laps just clean ones and you can fast track the licences just by time trials only.

Well after a little drop in speed getting used to the wheel I bought off Bigsy the lap times are now going back in the right direction.

Good promotion on atm, 3 months for the price of 1!
Seriously tempted to give this a go, realistically will i be forking out every week for new content or does the "starter" pack come with all needed to actually get into it?

It's got all you need to do the rookie level and a good deal of the advanced rookie, it's the same promotion I used when I joined last August.

What class C cars do people recommend for most fun?

I usually prefer open wheelers, so I'm thinking Mazda but equally I like slidey skippy like handling and the mazda seems like it might not give that?

You get the Mazda if you want to be able to race regularly. You remove all downforce if you want to slide. You won't win anything though. :-)

The Radical was always my favourite "super Skippy" in terms of handling. Sadly getting a race in it was pretty tough. I've no idea if that's changed... or even if the Radical is class C for that matter. It certainly used to be back before I went on the 12 step iRacing withdrawal program.

Hello, My name's Andrew and I've been iClean for two months. I hardly ever <twitch> feel like a Skip <tw-twitch> any more. <twitch><shudder>.

Doesn't look like there is a current Radical class C Series.

Think I'll probably go for the Mazda and do a few TT's just to get to B class, its the lotus that really appeals to me.
