Thanks Skill, just seen some people suggest you can hold the up gear paddle until you hit the limiter at which point it will change gear in the Skippy...just off for a practice round limerock.

Anyone else noticed, if you press "Test Car on Track" and do some laps its easier, but go into a live session of any sort and it feels totally different - example, skippy at LR, in Test Car on Track i can manage 58.098 with constant 58's and the car is a dream to drive, yet i go into a live session the car is skittish, likes to swap ends seemingly for no reason..and lap times fall to high 59's low 1mins..

Just did an oval TT, purely to gain SR, but I'm an idiot, first I spin as I spin up the wheels out the pits like I do in offline practice, and then I go and push really hard to set a quicker time and hit the wall, 4 incidents and only +0.04 SR for half an hours driving ¬_¬

Aye, that'd probably work, only issue is the skippy does lose power towards the limiter, noticeably imo, I change up around the 6k, think the limiter is ~6.7?

I've seen others say the same thing, but never experienced it myself, making it, imo, purely mental :p

Shhh, its real honest, im not going insane

Woohoo, another win. After 3 beers as well!

I led all 20 laps, got a 59.XX lap, and only 2 incidents, up to Rookie 3.42 SR now :)

I'm LOVING this game!

Awsome SS keep it going, its quite a thrill aint it leading the whole distance - thats usually when i make a mistake though :(

Yes, TT's count for your MPR, to find out what you need to do highlight the MPR bit on the top left of the iracing site and it will say something like "You need 4 more races OR 4 more time trials", and obviously that updates as you do races/tt's to show what's needed...

ahh thanks mate didnt know about that one. Ever since I got my SR up past 4.0 Ive been driving like a nervous nelly to preserve it. Will do a few TT's on friday and get the B License to get it over and done with :)

Well after starting my iracing career at the weekend I hadn't got very far. I always ended up in the gravel or spinning the MX5 off the track.

Tonight I gave it a good crack though and got 10 laps in on a live practice/time trial on Limerock and had a great time. I got my lap time down from the 1.15's down to 1.04.364. I'm still a long way off the pace but feel I really improved over those 10 laps and it was a lot more enjoyable than my first experience at the weekend.

Ingame name is Matt Clegg if anyone would like to add me. I'll be looking for tips :p

Added,

Only real tip is practise and lots of it. I find the live sessions helps a lot can follow cars round and you don't have to worry about SR.

Thanks dude. After the 59.XX lap I slowed up big time, was lapping around 1.01-1.02 and just playing it safe to make sure I kept the lead. Made a couple of mistakes which led to my two incidents but very happy with the win and 0.47+ SR points (seems you get a big boost when you hit 3.0).

Jumping into my last race for the night now, another beer down so no doubt it'll go awful now :p

Thats the most sensible thing to do when leading anyway, get yourself a nice little lead say 2-3 secs (using F3 to see) and peroidically check it, and react to the time gap accordingly, i should take my own advice really as i go hammer and tongs to the last lap lol and dont get sucked into looking in the mirror all the time, just because the car gets bigger doesnt mean hes closing that time gap by a lot, and more often than not he will be slower coming out of the corner due to over cooking it or whatever.

Just won again, led all 20 laps as well. Yay! 4 incidents this time, but good enough to increase the SR a little more. Not long now until I can taste some Skippy action :)

If it helps I did a few laps in an online practice session, my best last night was a 58.7xx iirc, in the live session this evening I did a 58.3xx, a new PB :p

annoying thing is it was a really scruffy lap, easily 2 tenths or so of messyness....

No it doesnt help  :D, i swear it does behave like that, its really odd, almost like there is driving aids on but the live sessions dont, now i know there isnt driving aids in iRacing, but it sure as hell appears to be in the "test car on track" mode, compared to live for me at least.:D

I just had a weird thing happen. Coming down the main straight of Lime Rock, brake and drop into 3rd as normal for the first corner, and suddenly my car has no power. The engine is dead. I was only on the 3rd or 4th lap, and sitting in 2nd right on the tail of 1st place :(

Is this normal?
