Racing Simulators

Just raced in the 5pm race(nvidia cup at lime rock), 17 laps of incident free driving, was sitting in 5th with no one in front of me, I even managed to make a few passing moves stick(this is probably my weaker side of racing, abit too cautious at times) only to mess it up on the second last right hander at the top of the hill so frustrating, still got a +0.07 SR though which isn't too bad :p

I'm blaming you for the fact that I just bought a G27 now :p

I can live with that :p

You'll love it tbh, although getting used to 900 degrees of goodness can take a bit, ultimately it's far better for consistency (makes it easier to save slides) but it does feel odd going from a low-rotation wheel to the G27 series. (I went from an old MS Sidewinder FF wheel to the G25)

Ultimately I think the G series of wheels though are in a nice little bracket, affordable enough whilst being solid wheels with good customer service, imo the next step up is the 'silly' wheels like the Frex and the ECCI, although not sure what the new Thrustmaster is like.

On that note my next upgrade is likely to be some uber-pedals, really want a set of CST's but need to find a spare ~£400+ somewhere :p

Thats one of the downsides i guess, but every so often they offer free months, or 3 for the price of 1.

One of the biggest upsets for me is, They dont do promotional stuff to get past subscribers back - ive been waiting a year to re-sub on some promo stuff but alas nothing has come :( all new customers, which when you think about it, do they care about us old time players?

They used to offer lapsed members decent deals, my housemate has taken advantage of a couple of 3 for 1 month type deals between subs, not sure why they stopped though, still just sign up for a year or 2 and be happy :p

God, trying to get this to work is a PITA, keeps saying internal error.

What are you trying when it gives the error? Might be worth uninstalling and re-downloading the installer, never had to personally but heard one or two cases that needed that for some odd reason...

Other option is [email protected], they're fairly good at responding quickly/helpfully :)

Nope, keeps saying an unknown error, is that promo still active?

I'm just trying to make an account, not the actual client!

Edit - Got it working! :D

Incidents count towards SR in Qualifying and TT's as well as the Races, the only difference is that the Qualifying/TT ones count less, iirc it's 0.5x or 0.35x

So assuming you're having a few incidents in pursuit of a hot lap then that'll be why it's going down :p

SR seems like a big issue when you just start, but after a while you realise that it's not so important that you worry about it. If you just drive naturally it will even out, the worst thing you can do is worry about it and crash out distracted.

First win - woop!

Congrats, still waiting on my first win. I think i have the pace but im still too concerned with wrecking other peoples races, as a result im not that aggressive on the track. Saying that just finished second there, most of the field took themselves out/made mistakes :D

I think this is an appropriate thread to ask in..

Just how bad is the G27 deadzone issue? I want one, but am definitely put off by this:

Thats not a FFB problem, thats the centering spring, which should never be enabled when playing a decent game/sim, as that is controlled by the FFB physics..my G25 has a similar thing when ive got the centering spring enabled in the control panel, but by all accounts thats disabled, along with the spring effect and damper effect, as again those 2 are controlled by real FFB physics.

Well, I've got my G27 now and wow, it's a lot more fun to drive with then my old wheel. It's going to take some getting used to the FF and the 900 degree turning but it's helped my precision a lot already. The pedals are miles ahead of what I was using before as well. I can actually brake properly now because the brake pedal has some resistance to it.

I tried driving the Impala on Daytona earlier and I found it so hard to drive simply because the force feedback kept forcing me either into a wall or down the banking causing me to spin.

Try turning the ffb down in the iracing options, i usually have it set around 20 or so. Awaiting on my g27 arriving next week, should be a nice step up from the DFGT. FInally hit D class 4.0 today :D.

ive always felt iracing has you by the ******** if you get into it...having to keep on buying new tracks etc.

just doesnt seem a good investment of my money...but im poor and tight :)
