Radeon 6900 XT

Nobody thought there'd ever be a worse launch than Ampere.

Then Zen 3 happened.

Honestly I think they've all been terrible, but Zen 3 is only a month into unfulfilled backlog territory, where ampere is now what? Best part of three months in and still no stock?

This year has been a ****-show all round...
But I'm still hopeful of getting my 5950x this week.

I think its likely, they could do some good things like bring in the 4-day work week so majority of people can enjoy quality of life, just earn slightly less and prop it up some other method.
Tories more likely to shift us to a 6-day week with most people barely able to pay the rent come Sunday.

Fun observation tho - if you ask the average Brit they are more likely to believe that a 5 (or 6) day week is the only true path, with a 4 day week being some kind of heresy (strongly linked to laziness/being workshy).

Honestly, the people get the govt they deserve. Brits deserve the Tories, by and large.

Working a full week is some ingrained tradition thing that is only a barrier if you dare not try it out. Just like from covid, it forced my organisation to implement video conferencing and staff working from home. The shudder as people reslised that driving to 'meetings' and wasting time in general by being fixed to a location made me chuckle. The benefit for me was it impacted me zero and reinforced the point that I can do the same amount of work from home.

The same will apply to a 4-day week.

Funny observation but I forgot the cornish treat themselves as a country in their own right (have own flag).

I'd love you to be right, but I can't see it.

Unlike wfh, there is no particular driver for people to try a 4 day week. The word "ingrained" is absolutely correct.

And from all the conversations I've ever had with people, floating the idea of a 4 day week is normally met by abject horror :p I don't know why, but people seem to want to work as many hours as possible. Seems to be some measure of pride associated with working yourself into the ground.

Personally I'd be happy with a 4 day week, but it's not an option. Even if I took a pay cut it's not an option. It is simply assumed that a 5 day week is (and must be) optimal. Nobody is prepared to try anything different.

Something something something Kernow!

I'll happily accept a four day week if I don't lose money. If I lose money, then it's a no-go. It's that simple. :)

I'm sure whilst most see the (apparent) 20% reduction in working hours, there is the bias (maybe) assumption that this will equate to 20% less pay.

Laymans = Do more for less.

Start a 4 day week;... in time, employer (stakeholder) will want 5 days work.

The way it's meant to be played - The way it has always been.

I'm happily retired, since august, thought I would hate it but I love it, living on a couple of pensions and the wife still working. Mind you I started work at 15yrs and worked full time till 63 and had to retire on medical grounds so I'm gonna enjoy. Never mind 4 day weeks I remember the 3day weeks introduced in the seventies along with power cuts, those were the days.

Judging by the other departments I resolve issues for I do more than 5 days work, they probably amass maybe 3 days. In a nutshell they (companies) can demand 5 days crammed into 4 they will get the same output as people will work efficiently especially if there's something in it for them. It is not possible for some industries and services or shift work coverage but it can certainly be applied to a lot of the workforce out there.

There is a hell of a lot of people dragging the week out ticking in the hours 'at work' most likely a chunky percentage of it wasted in idle time, breaks, chit-chat, procrastinating, loafing, skiving etc.

Yep they been dropping them hints already. Bleak 10 year depression kind of looming methinks..

Oh yeah, all day long that. Public sector all looking at a 2nd remuneration for many departments in January.

Only gotta look at the shareholder owned companies as soon as a sniffle. Bail, Bail BAil, Sell, Sell, Sell.

Prep for Austerity level 10.
