Radeon 6900 XT

Judging by the other departments I resolve issues for I do more than 5 days work, they probably amass maybe 3 days. In a nutshell they (companies) can demand 5 days crammed into 4 they will get the same output as people will work efficiently especially if there's something in it for them. It is not possible for some industries and services or shift work coverage but it can certainly be applied to a lot of the workforce out there.

There is a hell of a lot of people dragging the week out ticking in the hours 'at work' most likely a chunky percentage of it wasted in idle time, breaks, chit-chat, procrastinating, loafing, skiving etc.

Yeah very good point, I'd agree with that.

That's weird another member Harrisman also ordered 6800 around same time as you and he hadn't received a shipping notice.

I've also seen people who ordered during the second drop of cards getting their shipping confirmations as well, which makes me wonder what's going on.

CS have said that the warehouse is behind, which I understand, but I ordered before some of these folks and yet they're getting their orders before me.

Maybe orders aren't always fulfilled based on when you ordered by your queue position may be based on other factors

It should be first come first served, and I can't think of any reason to do otherwise. Perhaps usernames are selected alphabetically? In which case, I'm ******.
It should definitely go on forum membership length and post count. These johnny-come-lately signed up in the last few weeks types can do one and wait :)

Or like who staff are friends with, frequent buyers, long term supporters, business partners? I dunno, but you can imagine that queues can be changed at will

The problem with announcements in forum is, even if you are subscribed to the topic, forum software does not reliably send you of new post notifications. So unless you are F5ing (I meant refreshing, you dirty minds) ocUK forum, that announcement of incoming stock would be kinda pointless. And if one thinks that forum exclusivity works, it wouldn't, since word would spread out soon before Gibbo even finished his post.
And prioritising for amount of post one wrote is stupid, since not everyone here is sitting all day long and chat about life, even though we're still enthusiasts.

However, I wouldn't mind some sort of system in place for launches, which would check account for previous purchases, and prioritise those which had regular purchase history. That way you would weed out any scalping new accounts created just for launch.

Does anyone know when Sapphire, ASUS and the others start selling their 6900 XT's ?? Since yesterday seemed to be only the reference cards from AMD shop ?
There’s been no info on this in general.

However OCUK have about 100 examples and gibbo has said he’ll inform us on the forums when they go on sale, probably wed or Thursday again.

Haha no it won't be coming down its called supply and demand. You can screenshot low prices at other sites all you want but the key fact is those prices are irrelevant because they are sold out and you cannot buy those cards currently at those prices. Overclockers are probably the only store with any left so they can charge a premium and people will pay it. If you don't agree with the prices then wait till supply stabilises and the prices should come down a little.

what you fail to understand @Sleepy Stu the shop ocuk hasn't even judged demand at selling these cards at RRP yet, demand is normally judged and price scaled after a product has been let live and sold at RRP, not before.

if i dont see this changed i will be taking my business direct to amd and buying the rest of my hardware else where and not even consider using ocuk, loyalty comes with a price sometimes. you want my continued support and money, then play fair. greed isn't a good look and something i refuse to support...

i know im new here but ive been making phone orders for years*

I think it will come down quite a bit.

that 6800XT Nitro+ OC price is really tempting and the Red Devil too, both cards can be quicker than the 6900XT reference.

Once the market realises this i doubt there will be many reference 6900XT sales at £999 at all.

£849 makes sense for the 6900XT reference and i am fairly sure that’s where the card will end up eventually once all the stock issues have been resolved, that is roughly half the price of the £1,750 Zotac 3090 which has an inferior PCB to the 6800XT Red Devil.

Can't see them changing their whole pricing strategy for one bloke on a forum tbh, shouting into the wind here

Working a full week is some ingrained tradition thing that is only a barrier if you dare not try it out. Just like from covid, it forced my organisation to implement video conferencing and staff working from home. The shudder as people reslised that driving to 'meetings' and wasting time in general by being fixed to a location made me chuckle. The benefit for me was it impacted me zero and reinforced the point that I can do the same amount of work from home.

I'd love you to be right, but I can't see it.

Unlike wfh, there is no particular driver for people to try a 4 day week. The word "ingrained" is absolutely correct.

And from all the conversations I've ever had with people, floating the idea of a 4 day week is normally met by abject horror :p I don't know why, but people seem to want to work as many hours as possible. Seems to be some measure of pride associated with working yourself into the ground.

Personally I'd be happy with a 4 day week, but it's not an option. Even if I took a pay cut it's not an option. It is simply assumed that a 5 day week is (and must be) optimal. Nobody is prepared to try anything different.

I'll happily accept a four day week if I don't lose money. If I lose money, then it's a no-go. It's that simple. :)

I'm sure whilst most see the (apparent) 20% reduction in working hours, there is the bias (maybe) assumption that this will equate to 20% less pay.

Laymans = Do more for less.

Start a 4 day week;... in time, employer (stakeholder) will want 5 days work.

The way it's meant to be played - The way it has always been.
I'm a full-time software engineer and in my last job I switched to a 4 day week after a few years, as I was tired of doing the same boring **** each day without much research/learning time. It worked wonders for my stress and anxiety levels, and I got a whole day to work on my own projects (which is game dev!) outside of the weekend. My current job just gave me the option of a 4 day week as well, and I'll probably take them up on it starting Jan or Feb 2021. There's a 20% drop in salary and holiday allowance, but it's made up for by the fact that I have 3 days in a row that are entirely mine. It's lovely.

Also, anecdotally, a lot of colleagues I've spoken to over the years about a 4 day week have said "it's their dream situation", but none of them have actually pushed for it. If you want it enough, or mental/physical health demands it, you can get it.

up to them isn't it, I was able to get a zotac 3080 at RRP from them for my brother, i see no reason why it should be any different for this launch. they either want continued support from loyal customers who return or they want scalpers buying once from them. simple as that really

@Besty those cards launched at RRP then went up after, which is normal price scaling on demand, haven't got a problem with that, this rt 6900 xt launch looks to be something else though

Yep I can see a lot of people being interested in a 4 day week but as soon as you mention a 20% reduction in pay then a lot of them would suddenly be against the idea!!
