Radeon FURY thread

I'd get a new cpu first. :)

The 380 looks to be about the best performer for the money in the mid range / upper mid range segment.

Very true, a cpu/mobo/mem upgrade is my first priority.

I'm not sure if there is a worse first world problem than being on a week off from work, trying to decide whether order an X99/5820k/4x4GB DDR4 to put toghether and play with this week, or wait for that "second coming of Jesus" (Skylake in this case) just around the calendar corner. ;)

:D

Would DDR4 memory be worth it?

Are Jen-Hsun Huang and Lisa Su related? she could have been sent in to finish AMD off. I can understand Fury/X being overpriced because they're probably expensive to manufacture but with 390X they've basically just whacked a massive premium on it.

It's a conspiracy!!! Huang must still be bitter after he failed to agree terms to become AMD CEO back in the days when AMD were close to buying Nvidia. So obviously he trained up a saboteur using his inside knowledge of AMD and sent them out to destroy the company so it's value would drop and he could finally acquire it and become AMD CEO. Then after the acquisition, he will eject the AMD graphics division and rebrand it ATi and then make Nvidia into AMD's new graphics division. I've just worked out his true plan right there.

Order made for the sapphire.

An honorable mention for the 7970, not only has it served me well for 3 years but has paid for it's own replacement lol.

Not looking good for overclocking, at least on the Stryx card. Taken from the Guru3D review;

Overclocking

Overclocking then. Current restrictions are voltage adjustment for both GPU and memory, as well as frequency changes on the HBM memory. In the future we'll have to see how tweaking support on that will pan out but right now it is not looking very good. The GPU voltage is going to be trivial here though. ASUS does offer solder traces for VGA voltage tweaking, but that requires hard-wiring the product, not rrecommended for 99.999% of you guys. With a bit of luck you will get the GPU clocked at 1100 MHz stable. Tweaking memory is not an option.

Strix uses a Non reference board unlike the Fury Tri-X where voltage should not be locked. Nonetheless I'd wait and see before drawing any conclusions. Asus don't normally lock down a gpu considering they have their own overclocking software, GPU Tweak.

I wonder if anyone has tried the hardmod?

/off to kingpin forums to check

I thought it odd tbh. If Fury can get to 1200ish it'll be a good boost

edit - If the Fury gets a good boost from Win10 and they generally get to 1200ish on the core then a pair of them would be a fantastic combo

Think the only hopes for the Fury are 3rd party voltage control, or IF the missing shaders could be unlocked so it becomes an air cooled Fury X.

Other than that it'll need a £50 price drop.

So the 390X is just as good. May as well overclock my 290X and beat the Fury.

Only review I've seen where the 390X is as fast as the Fury.

Another Fury review, performing very well at 1440P/4k.

No chance in LOAD noise despite having a 10% overclock.

Nothing like seeing fps in action. From this I reckon an 390x with an extra 100mhz on the core should be on par or even slightly faster than the fury.

Yeah the ti oc v fury oc, fury got destroyed. Still hope in magic beans though..cough.

Fixed :p

Yeah, and the best thing is my Ti clocks *beyond* what they clocked at so I'm getting even more!! Let's face it, the Ti is a monster with a good overclock

From what Gibbo has stated on here, their have been multiple days where the Ti's have been selling in their *hundreds* just this one retailer!!! Insanely strong seller for weeks and weeks
