Also says they might reduce the price to be more competitive.
Anyways, really depends on how it performs.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Wouldn't it be right in-between the 480 and 1070 price point which is currently absent of a current gen card? I'm betting a lot of people have already compromised by going with either the 480 or 1070, after being told that this would be the entire Polaris line-up.
The 490 will be a the 1070-1080 competitor. Not sure why some people are surprised by seeing a 490. It was obvious this card was coming.
Nvidia always find a way to save a few pennies on their lower mid-range stuff. At least it'll have a 192-bit memory bus instead of the 128-bit one of the 960.3GB....Vomits.
Considering 480's aren't even officially for sale yet, there shouldn't be anybody actually committed to buying one yet.Wouldn't it be right in-between the 480 and 1070 price point which is currently absent of a current gen card? Vega will be two GPU's. It makes a lot of sense for the smaller Vega to be the 490 and then the bigger one a flagship card with special naming. Was it? Is it going to be Vega or Polaris? Vega should be the fury successor, so not an RX 490.
Well we shall see if consumers are more interested in saving £10 from their annual energy bill, or getting more bang for their buck.
I have a feeling bang for buck still reigns supreme in the minds of most consumers, myself included.
Forza Apex = DX12
Would laugh a lot if there is a wild card 490 also being announced/released today with Polaris and Vega reserved for other cards, and Gibbo sitting on a pile of them.
Would have been the ultimate misinformation campaign thats obviously got Nvidis guessing with the sudden 1060 move.
Doubt they would manage to keep it so quiet though unless it was superlastminute delivery to vendors...
Countdown til the RX 490 news is posted all over VideoCardz and WCCFTech we know they love OCUK forums..
And it would have accomplished nothing. The 1060 will be priced to compete with the 480, regardless. Any 490 is going to cost a good bit more than $250.Would have been the ultimate misinformation campaign thats obviously got Nvidis guessing with the sudden 1060 move.
and I get a point for indirectly mentioning US prices which are ranging from £180-280.
I dont think any user would order their card directly from US with the current ex rate then pay VAT on top...
please read the context of the message . Hope the price range was a help to forum users to gain price floating points across the world.

It would make the 4850/4870 twitter from AMD make more sense though!
Hah that would be great, but sadly won't happen. RX 490 would have been the perfect card.
Dx12 is future get over it, just cause we don't have many games right doesn't mean in near future it won't be crawling with games that support it. So why should ppl invest in old tech when clearly amd ones gonna last longer as seen in previous gens ?
