Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

I know and that's my predicament at the moment.... the 390X or hold out for a AIB 480? But other than the 390X there is nothing else worth getting....maybe I'll hold out to the 1060 and really then have some choice. I would like to by new tech rather than 2-3 year old tech.

In a similar situation to you buddy, if the aib's end up being much more expensive or with the niggles we are seeing with the oem cards I'll probably wait until the next generation of mid range cards to upgrade my 7950! What's another year or so wait anyway haha :p

Yeah I would wait too...but I got on the hype train and sold my 280x Toxic last week for £140, so need a replacement ASAP. Trying to play on i5 built in graphics just aint cutting it for me! I think AIB maybe the way to go. If the 280X is anything to go by than the 390X will run really hot and use loadsa power and heat...am I right?

Well this whole 480 thing hasn't gone how I was hoping. I currently have a Gtx 760 whose fans I think are on the way out and I have a 144Hz monitor that requires DVI. I was expecting a £160-180 upgrade but the lack of DVI on the reference and the state of the conversion rates has stopped that. I wasn't expecting politics to get in the way of my gaming :(

man, never ever sell all your eggs! Keep a card for situations like this. I am going to keep my 970 so I can play this buy / sell game with future cards :)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Official Specifications and Benchmarks Leaked – 15% Faster Than RX 480, More Than 40% Efficient Than Polaris 10

wow man your obsessed, seriously.... seriously sad, i mean on a proper mental level, you need to let it go dude lol....

That 1060 will be approx £50-80 more expensive than the 480 for a HUGE 15% performance increase, and as for power lol, yeah AMD dropped the ball massively with the 480's power, thats your only valid angle for argument, and most people dont even care about power....

But on a serious not, mate either get some mental health help, or let the AMD hate go, its not healthy for you buddy and really its making you look a bit of a fool on these forums now. I used to think you was a pretty reasonable fellow but your sinking to complete new depths here with the constant vitriol.

Longer he waits the less money he'll get back. He did well to get 140 for it. I paid less than that for a used 280x almost two years back.

that wasn't my point. That's something I do so of course, doesn't mean anyone else needs to do it, but I always keep 1 card so whatever happens I can still game or whatnot while waiting for other cards I want to appear. It's not about selling it at all.
