Radeon RX480 4GB can be flashed to 8GB version.

I would actually bet money that all the 4GB 480s have 8GB under the hood, purely because they were a very limited card and AMD are not making anymore. I guess to save making a differing PCB and to show that the price was low, they did a small run and disabled 4GB and sold them at cost or something like that. Good luck to the guys who got 4GB and hope it does flash for ya :)
 
I'm getting "SubsystemIDs mismatch" when trying to flash
Never used ATIWinflash before. Any way to force it.?
 
it worked for me by using atiflash -f -p 0 bios.rom and it actually fixed bootscreen for me which before was like that :

Thanks for trying, does this increase the mem speed from 7000Mhz to 8000Mhz as well?

Because if it does and the cards are working fine then essentially the 4Gb and 8GB cards are identical. AMD must have known this would get out once people started removing the coolers!
 
This is cool, i like it when AMD does this. Its always nice getting summat for free. I only had one card worth unlocking in the past, a 9800se.
