Radiator question Swiftech H20Apex Ultra Plus Watercooling Kit)

Morrisons petrol stations stock di-ionised/distilled water 75p/ltr. ;) Kinda makes the decision for you.

What ambient temperature?
What kind of rad and fan?
What flowrate from the pump?
What Vcore?

Ambient room temp is around 39 at the moment in this weather
Dual 120mm Asetek
2 X Akasa Amber 120mm
Pump flowrate is adjustable from 2880rpm to 3880rpm
10mm O/D Tubes
Extra reservoir after CPU block Stage
V Core = 1.485V

Come on guys - approximately!!!!

This is my day job. I have a house and a Mrs and a lot better things to do with my time than staring at a thermometer in the spare bedroom!!

Sounds like someone needs a night out! lol ;)

Read carefully - last quote says AROUND 39 degrees

39*C in staffordshire?! room temperature isn't massive amount above outside temperature, must have been sweaty in there :p

Definitely. Had it up to 3.45GHz in winter. If you look at the picks (Rad mounted on the back) it tucks nicely behing the curtain for silly temps with the window open in a frost!! lol

Not really interested in what you get upto with a thermometer in your spare bedroom, but if you are posting on behalf of OcUK tech an understanding of the basics may prove useful.

How do you know. Have you seen my rig?

I dont have to! You can not have water temps less than at a guess 12c over ambient for your rig. Add the overclock and the temperatures you have given are well out.

My CPU (@3.2GHz) runs at 38 - 39 degrees under load at the moment. FACT.

I know my stuff - the clue is in the job title. I wouldn't work here if I didn't know what I was on about.

Check this thread out, I know my stuff:

Also, I don't really value the opinion of anyone who make rash comments about a rig they've never been in the same room as before. You don't know about the second stage reservoir cooled by a 120mm fan from the front do you? You don't know that the arse end of the radiator pratically hangs out of the window on a north facing wall of the house that gets no sun do you? You don't know where or how the tube is routed do you? You don't know weather I'm clocking with a multiplier or FSB or both do you? You don't know what pump pressure is set to do you? You don't have an accurate reading of the temperature of my room do you? You don't even know if its water I've got in the tubes. In fact, you KNOW NOTHING yet persist in trying to belittle and **** people off to bolster your own unfounded self importance. A point further reinforced by your own childish sig. "How far will my CPU clock? Clock it and see Noob!"

As the above link shows, we reached No. 4 on the custom pc benchmarks with an aircooled rig when the top 20 were on phase change promeitia, vapochill/ waterchill systems. I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else. I know what I'm capable of and I know you are out of order preaching nonsense abouta system you have no facts about or have never even seen.

Cool'N'Quiet changes the multi and voltage according to load requirements. I'm talking about the cpu going into a HLT state which is completely different. Your idle temps will be lower but not by as much as your load temps, I suspect.
I would holeheartedly agree with that, idle temps are slightly less but load temps are considerably lower and for the GFX card as well.

You need to state what you have properly or people will question your figures. I wasn't having a dig, just trying to understand the facts without you stating everything you have.

Maybe it is you who should read the forum rules about swearing and making personal attacks at people.

Please can we keep my thread on track...?

I get my Kit delivered today and I am sure I will run into some problems...questions help etc...

As its my first attempt at water cooling.

I appreciate everyones comments and I have learnt a lot already but I would appreciate for the thread to be kept on track :)

Thanks

I have not sworn.

Maybe you should be a bit more sensitive towards people and not instantly tell them that they are talking rubbish before you have all the facts. My reply was in response to a question by someone else. It was you who decided I was

1) Wrong
2) not providing enough details.

We'll just agree a difference of opinion then mate ;)

These forums are supposed to be enjoyable but I must admit that I do get a bit defensive sometimes. We spend all day in our dept RMAing kit that is not faulty and being told we are wrong by people who claim to be technicians/ experts. (If thats the case, why are they ringing us? lol)

hey up andy, its Lee

i think everybody should just drop it

a few facts first

your cpu cannot be less that the temperature of the water in loop

if it was 39c 100% load which i can easily believe, then its going to be around 33c idle, take into consideration that the cpu is running overclocked(mhz&volt) then its safe to assume the a cpu is putting out heat idling

if you were the down clock it to say 2ghz on 1.1v your cpu will be about what ure water temp is, maybe 1-2c above, which im guessing would drop your cpu to say 30c

if you take into consideration as well the small heatdump of the pump into the water id say your water has a temp of 29c idle and 30c load with 3.2ghz

so id make an estamation that your room temp is 28c

ive got a fx57 at the bottom of my cupboard somewhere so ive used one before

Personal dig or no personal dig, you still can't get your CPU below ambiant with normal watercooling, regardless of what you have in your pipes, where your radiator is, where your res is, when you were born, which way the wind is blowing, hair colour, height, build or anything else.

The best you can do is cool your water to ambiant temps, then your CPU to as close as that as your CPU block will allow. Shouting, swearing, screaming and stamping your feet will not change that.
