Ram pricing

So a big drop will happen sooner or later, I think I will wait it out then, bloody killing me though.

I think the forecasts suggested next year may be the next decline but depends on the continuing demand for certain products (I.e Samsung B Die).

The £ could do without being to terrible also ;)

Cave wait until the days of cheap ram are back I think I will gorge myself. Got a couple of builds I am wanting to do but the cost of ram is putting me off.

I did think something like this was going on. When I learnt that they had done price fixing before I changed from “this is unfortunate” to “I’m suspecting price fixing again”.

Agreed that the fine should be billions. It’s silly companies can do this stuff and get off with a small fine (comparatively) and a short term negative image.

The thing is that memory is an essential commodity and people have no choice. People buy memory because without memory, there will be no computers.

There should be strong regulations from the government to drop these prices of strategic commoditis to the minimal possible level.

The corporations can make their wealth on products which are not essential. But they will do the opposite. Will charge us the maximum for things without which we can't exist.

Actually, we can exist without computers, but then we all will say bye-bye to the digital society.

Let's see if prices go down again in 2018.

My instincts say they won't, the massive profits will likely outweigh any penalties that regulators might impose if or when they get round to it.

Will be watching the Chinese regulators with interest.

And couple years of forced labour camps for CEOs and their buddies.
(instead of some "government hotel" with lot better conditions than people doing crap jobs have)

That was crucial which ocuk no longer stock - other retailers still stock @ approx £80/160/290 which is inline with the corsair value select range here.

3200 Dimms @ 4GB - £55 / 8GB - £98 / 16GB - £201
2400 Dimms @ 4GB - £43 / 8GB - £81/ 16GB - £161

The above are for single Dimm prices including VAT, how is £80/160/290 inline with the above?

I forsee ram prices will remain high and we will never see the lows of 14 months ago.
It's a essential commodity now and as such the profits will be maximised always from this point onwards.

To be honest with the gap between the ps4 pro / Xbox one x consoles and pc's not being so large anymore I don't see many people buying custom gaming machines at these prices.

need to agree with Solus, was pc gamer for years, was thinking of upgrading my machine, but the silly ram and gpu prices just kept me putting off from upgrade. So one day i went and bought ps4, now, i rarely turn my pc on. Quality on ps4 is more than acceptable, so why i should be looking in spending nearly 1k£ so i could play never games. and game prices is similar to pc games.

Pretty much same as me now. PC RAM/SSD/GPU prices are insane. Totally put me off PC's after 18 years. I only use my pc for strategy games, or games that are only ever released on PC, everything else is now Xbox/PS4. My PC only gets updated if something breaks now.

If prices come back down I'll return to PC as RTS/4X/TBS type games are only generally released on PC

Despite the high prices every once in a while some really good offers spring up. If your patient/lucky you can snag a really good deal but you have to really look around be at the right place/time because you can be sure some scalpers will buy multiples for re-selling.
