What happens here is that some non Muslims who would otherwise go to these places see that food is Halal and instantly assume it must be tainted in some way and will go elsewhere!

There's a kebab shop that did this a while back, removed the signs and business picked up.
Moral of the story?
Average people are stupid.
You almost make it sound as if there's no debate over the ethical nature of ritual slaughter.
Who knows?
The chicken tastes exactly the same either way so what bother would it be to you?

I don't care if there isn't a debate as far as my post there goes I was merely replying to your question on why that shop most likely removed the sticker and in that context debate isn't a factor.
Stupid in the sense that they thought there was something physically wrong with the food because it was Halal, that it must be bad in some way.
Unless you've surveyed all these people that stopped buying their food from places that advertised as Halal, that is purely conjecture.
I also remember reading an article where, I think it was a German scientist conducted several tests and concluded the Islamic/Jewish way of slaughter was the most humane. It was quite a long time ago I will try find it.
Today I tried to fast for the first time, I just wanted to do it to understand some of the dedication and difficulties anyone doing it for a month would feel.
I went without water from midnight - 9.30pm and without food from 9pm last night until 9.30pm today.
The going without water was very hard, with it being so hot i woke up thirsty let alone after I had finished work!
Just wanted to say I have massive respect for anyone that is doing it for 30 days.
You're forgetting that Muslims rinse their mouths with water 5 times a day as part of their prayer cleanliness ritual.
Yeah but thats a small amount and most isn't swallowed especially with intention.
I know but it's good for him to know that Muslims do rinse their mouths out with water which does help during fasts.
Also I appreciate his admiration for Muslims having to endure a strict fast. I do however like one thing from Lent which is giving up one consumable item or bad habit.
