It would depend on how you define it. Some use the rule of the country as the definition.

Some people would say the UK is a Christian country, though I'd disagree, even of Christianity would be the most common religion, the country isn't ruled under religious law.

I suppose that's true. I would say from the religious belief point of view, that if it is a democratic country and they have voted in a power, then that power should represent the belief of the country as a whole.
But then I don't get politics either :p

Ramadan Mubarak

And thank you very much for enlightening us on the subject, especially you Skaif. It really is good to understand more about your religion and traditions which I'm ashamed to admit I know next to nothing about.

No problem, Happy to help! I suppose it's important to make sure people understand the true meaning behind fasting as most people don't get it. And don't be ashamed, you're not alone in not knowing a thing! It's a beautiful thing for us so happy to share :)

I did some digging around myself. Apparently, Muslim footballers were excused under travelling exemptions.
I guess thst makes sense! I'm sure some footballers did fast though. I remember reading somewhere that they would jeopardise their place if they did and some did it anyway!

I admire your willpower in your fasts, I bet it's great for shedding body fat if you don't gorge at night ;). Maybe I should try it

Ramadan Mubarak.

Do you find your mood is better or worse (or as normal) during fasting? I find i get a bit irritable if I'm overly hungry. Years ago I did Lent and reflected on my belief. I ended up not believing in any of it. Good luck!

In SA people sleep during the day and stay up at night.

They're still fasting as they didn't eat or drink during the day time.

that is surely defeating the point - I mean surely part of it is the challenge of sticking to the fast... not exactly hard if you're just fasting when you sleep like any other human being around the world

I think in general my mood is pretty much the same. We are taught to be patient and have even more respect and willpower. My main issue is tiredness! Lack of sleep coupled with lack of food leaves low energy levels!
