Raptor Lake Leaks + Intel 4 developments

yea and it got sorted fast, how long was ryzen around for again? years?

Personally never had any issues and I've been on the platform for few years went from 3700x to 5900x drop in CPU upgrade , had intel before that I've actually had more intel CPUs in the past until recently

Probably be another 2 years till I next upgrade

I don't shill on either I go with performance and cost if both are performing similarly I would say I lean towards AMD more likely hood I will have option to drop in another CPU in the years ahead instead of having no option other than having to buy another board
Well amd charges you for a new motherboard in their cpu prices, you pay for one but you dont get one. So does it really matter? I mean look at the 3d, the cpu alone costs as much as the 12700f with a brand new b660. Thats absurd considering it pretty much loses badly to 99% of taks and only wins by a small % in specific games that make use of the cache.

I went from 3700x to 5900x for £500 actually less as I sold the 3700x, at the time the 10th gen 10900k with board would have cost more , I didn't need to buy another board and performance was higher

I won't even mention rocket lake

And the Jump was very noticeable just dropping in CPU you tell me the last you could say that for intel getting jump like that on the same socket ?

Competition is great I remember the days intel stayed on sticking with quad core when they didn't and now we seeing both push only benefits us consumers

Thats my point, you paid 500 for the 5900x. With that money you can buy a 12700f and a brand new b660 instead of your old outdated motherboard

Now i ask the people who had to pay 300 and 450 for 6 and 8 cores of zen 3

Except he couldn't as the 12700 didn't exist when he bought it, so stop being a total plonker please Dave 2.0

EDIT: I also have to laugh at the "out dated" motherboard comment, given the X570 has PCIE 4.0 and all the features of any B660 board, and was available in 2019, why would anyone create more e-waste by getting a new board when not required.

Not sure you understand I was comparing what was available at the time and reason having longer socket support worked out great

Alder lake didn't exist at the time you do realise zen3 was released in 2020 ? Not even rocket lake existed , 10th gen 10900k cost the same and with lower performance and needing to add motherboard no gen4 either and would have ended up costing more

I assumed we are not talking about an x570. If we are then what longevity are we talking about, x570 only took 2 zen generations

Oh you are talking about 2020. But you do realise you went from a 250pounds cpu to a 500 pounds cpu cause the new 250 pounds cpu (5600x) was actually slower than the one you already had. The point is amd forced everyone to pay more to get an upgrade over their current zen 2 cpus, so basically yes you keep your motherboard (which if it is an x570 then it offered you the same longevity as any intel motherboard) but you overpaid for the cpu.

I mean imagine someone with a 3600 that cost him 200 euros. Will he be happy needing to pay 300 euros to "upgrade" to another 6 core cpu just because he keeps his motherboard?

Amd forced a huge price hike in the cpus most people buy, which were the 6 and 8 core parts. These users shouldn't care about mobo longevity cause they are already paying for a new mobo, they just didnt get one. 330 euros is what i paid for my 1600 and a top notch b350, thats just the 5600xs msrp

How could anyone buying a brand new build avoid having to buy a board regardless of when it was built, or should they just use magic? Next you'll be recommending that people should have bought the 11900K with its downgraded 8c/16t instead of the 5900x, because AVX512. ;)
My goodness you really are a try hard, go back to WCCF tech or wherever you came from.

How did I overpay when the only other option was the 10900k for the same cost ? And costing more when having to add motherboard ?

And the 10900k less cores and lower performance

So when raptor lake ends up performing better than current alder lake models for similar price you gonna say you overpaid for alder lake ?

Wasn't 11900k £500-£550 ?

Guess I overpaid for the i7 6700k £350 when 12700k costs the same

I didnt say you can buy a brand new build without a motherboard, im saying if you got an x570 you cant be talking about your motherboards longevity, cause it doesn't have any.

Im not comparing to intel, im comparing to amds own cpus. To be fair, the 5900 and 5950x had decent prices,, but most people don't buy these parts anyways. The vast majority of people buy the 6 and 8 core parts, in which case they paid for a motherboard included in their cpu prices. So yes, amd offered longevity (dragging and screaming in the case of x470) but users literally paid for it. I mean seriously, 450 msrp the 5800x was an absolute joke, thats how much it should cost bundled with a mobo. Of course the shelf prices were way higher than that, i remember the 5600x was over 400 euros in december of 2020, so ended up with a 3700x plus a b550 for less than the actual cost of the 5600x alone

At the time of the releases what we're the prices on 10th and 11th gen ? When zen3 was out that was available from intel ?

So so far talking about longevity in the x570 is nonsense, right?
AMD have hinted it will contine so we cant say its only 2 generations just yet. Look no matter what i say you are only going to disagree, your a one brand person and thats fine, your choice and you gotta go with it and i'll make my choices

I probably have more zen cpus than most people here, but yeah, definitely one brand person.
