Done it all again, and this time used win32 to write the disc image and it seems stable and all working now. Just need to increase buffer cache again and add a few more things.. what skin is everyone using and where they get it from ?

I've left my Pi on Confluence, disabled a few things like the RSS feed, menu sounds and any services I don't use on it, like the Apple stuff.

I don't install any addons on my Pi install, keeps it as fast as possible.

I'm going to have to pick one of these up to see what Windows 10 on devices preforms like on this bad boy!

"NEON-enabled multicore video codecs can be over 20x faster" - Could be good news for XBMC/Plex users.

I've just ordered the new Pi from RS, need to get a microSD card sorted as the one in my Pi wont fit! .. Im sure being double the speed it will be a pleasure to use.

Can anyone recommend a cheap, reliable and fast MicroSD card for this?

Just grabbed one. I was on the fence a few months ago so why not grab the new version. Has anyone used this as a portable media device as in have films and games on it on it and bring it with them on holiday? Also how good is it in terms of booting into applications like XBMC and then only having to use a controller like a 360 pad so I wouldn't have to lug a KB&M around?

Cheers :).

Most here use it for XBMC, i do and control it with my Phone ... App called Yatse.

Thanks for the app recommendation anyway as I plan to sell my secondary PC that I had connected to the TV anyway as it just doesn't get used for games anymore so it'll be used at home for movies and stuff too. Also does anyone know if you can connect an SSD as an external drive to the Pi? Can you do it through some kind of SSD to USB cable or will it need a dedicated enclosure?

I have another question. My dad only uses his PC for things like email, printing and booking things like flights so I'm thinking that a Pi could be a good replacement for the bulky tower he's got now. How easy will it be for him to install something should he need it? I've not really used Linux before but I know it's not quite as noob friendly as Windows.

Perfect will be ordering one later.

Should hopefully save me having to re-encode bluray rips with an AC3 audio track.

The current model B can then be retired to perform other duties
