My current Pi 3 i have setup as a media center in the living room.

I currently have a not very economic pc acting as a media center and file server in the bedroom, so thinking 1 more to replace that as a media center in the bedroom, another one to run as a file server in a cupboard out the way and probably another one to play about with, so will be 4 in total.

My dad said something about doing that (Major procrastinator though so prob. just talk) have a Dish contract & the lowest package in the US with the DVR fee is $78, Sat. & cable are ripoffs if you don't care for sports... Put Android on it (it is called Rasand right?) & just get IPTV apps from the google app store... I thought I read somewhere the 3 has a FM radio chip, but it is disconnected, kind of odd...

Not really. No idea if it does have a fused off FM tuner or not... For cost reasons, the Pi3 is powered by a more or less off the shelf Broadcom chipset, often used in mobile/embedded applications where an FM chip might be desirable.

My Pi2 projects (EmulationStation/Mame arcade and internet radio box) still aren't finished lol

I'm pretty sure there was a thread on the official forums where one of the staff said it does have that ability, but the relevant pin(s) are unconnected on the underside of the SoC, so there's no way you can access them.

Kind of odd, why did they put it there just to disable it??? Oh & sorry I guess there is no Android just for it, I thought I heard there was...

Because it was built into the chip they decided to use for the built in Wifi and Bluetooth but there was no room on the board to route the pins to connect it.

I really wish they'd update the ethernet. Is the wifi now faster than the ethernet?

I'm using a Pi2b as a NAS and also a webserver (on which I have nothing except a temperature graph :p ) and whilst it is perfectly adequette as a NAS, it is a little slow (max ile transfer speed is 10MB/s).

Does anyone know the max transfer speeds yet, also is this 5GHz or just 2.xGHz?

Hi Folks,
Just got a raspberry pi 3 came with a noobs card and I installed raspbian, is there sometihng special I need to do to get the WIFI working ?
LAN is fine but the WIFI can't seem to see any wifi points to connect to ?

The Wifi in the Pi3 is 2.4ghz and tops out at around 40Mbit/s.

It worked out of the box for me, just left clicked on the Wifi icon on the taskbar and my router was shown n the list.

Apparently there are a few issues with the WiFi, they recommend disabling power management for the WiFi chip until they get a proper fix for it.

Hmm. My Pi3 has now stopped seeing my router via WiFi. It can see a load of BTs and the odd Sky router, but not mine, and my phone seems to see Virgin routers which my Pi can't.

Last time I order anything from the Pi hut, still waiting on my two ordered before 9am on Monday to even be dispatched. It seems unless you paid for DPD then you were disregarded and forgotten about.

I ordered my 2nd Pi3 from The Pi Hut's Amazon store last night as they were showing in stock there but not on the website, it shipped this morning, so seems if you want anything shipped on time from The Pi Hut you need to buy it from their Amazon store.
