Anyone seen the 4gb P4 in stock at all anywhere?

i ordered one yesterday and it was dispatched yesterday too.

it's in stock at 2 of the 4 official retailers however only 1 per order.

i ordered from pimoroni. i got the PSU, mini hdmi converter, case and fan shim from there too. the only thing i didn't get was a hgih endurance micro sd. i got that from amazon.

tbh i wasn't too sure if i really needed the 4gb for the extra £10 I thought it's best not to worry about it and 4GB can only be a bonus. especially if i end up running more stuff on it.

My 4GB P4 arrived today, along with a fan shim, case and one of the Pi Touch Screens.

Has anyone done any interesting pi projects with a touchscreen?

After my SD card failure I'm really starting to resent the thought of having to rebuild everything once the replacement arrives. I'm thinking to run a VM on GCP - at least I don't have to worry about hardware failures. Anyone else thought about dropping all of this and running things in the cloud instead?

What just for pihole? Seems a bit overkill at home

Do you run the GUI version of Raspbian? If so you should get into the habit of backing up your system storage very few weeks onto a USB stick using the inbuilt backup tool.

What can I say? I haven’t had any issues as I said and I installed the controller like a week after the raspi 4 came out.

i have.

no idea what the controller is useful for tbh other than changing advanced settings

For a home user it's just mostly pretty graphics, but if you're a contractor running multiple sites with hundreds of devices it's very useful to be able to access everything from one program.

Considering the Pi4 can be picked up for £34, I'm surprised to see people selling their old pi3's on ebay for not far short of the price of the Pi4.

And just for anyone curious, the Pimoroni fan shim fits fine in the official Pi 4 case. Obviously the lid will need to come off in use :D:D:D:D

Have you tried using the fan shim with the lid in place? Does it still bring the temps down even with the lack of vents etc? I'm half and half about ordering one myself but I would like to keep the case sealed. If it doesn't make any difference once it's closed off I'll probably hold fire for a better all round case.

To be honest, with the lid on it makes barely any difference. There's no way of bringing in fresh air and no-where really to exhaust it. I'd hold out for a better case :)
