I'm fully expecting I'll end up buying one of these but not until some genius has released some awesome HTPC/media server type instructions/downloadable build for it.

I figure there are loads of people out there with loads of ideas for what to do with them and there's clearly going to be a healthy scene for them so sooner or later there's be bucketloads of uses for them :)

XBMC has already been ported an running. It won't take long before some decent instructions are available.

The fact this will do 1080p is mindblowing.
I've applied for one, never dabbled in linux properly.

But £30 for a linux machine to learn to use, that's small and low power - yet can run 1080p? Amazing!

Linux is just the beginning. People will (hopefully) be writing their own OS for these things to do specific jobs. Also it has a pin out header which can be used to easily connect sensors, motors etc to. The RPi will be huge IMO.

It might be simple when compared to modern fully featured desktops, but it is still an incredibly complex machine. It would be a huge undertaking to design a completely new OS for it. No, whatever you do with it i think Linux will be the framework on which you build it.

Has anyone found any USB chargers that can deliver DC 5V 700mA? I bought one of these the other day and got it on Friday. I realised it might be enough and sure enough the website says DC 5V 1A. A USB micro-B cable to connect the Mu to the Raspberry Pi ought to be enough I reckon but I'd be interested to see if anyone's found something else that is good enough. :)

Just found this on the Raspberry Pi site.

Hooah my order I made at 08:41 on the 29th got pushed back to 15/05/12

Ditto. My order was placed around 11:30 on the 29th. I thought these things were ready to roll? Hopefully we wont be waiting 2 years + like the poor souls who ordered an Open Pandora!

It's odd that you people who ordered on the 29th are getting it mid May. I ordered mine on the 2nd, and will receive it week commencing 30/04/2012 via Farnell.

Probably going to be waiting months for one of these, but should be worth it! It will be fun to play with. Until then, I have the time to think what I really want to do with it :P!

I expect you will be getting a follow up email. My original date was 16/04/2012.
