Raspberry Pi - $35 Linux computer

That site struggles with the traffic it gets already, I frequently get database errors when visiting. It's going to be a nightmare come release day, hope I manage to get hold of one though.
 
WIll be purchasing one to get XBMC on, if it works out well, will be getting the setup for quite a few of my friends, if not its going to be around £25 down the drain.

I'm getting one for XBMC but I'm expecting it to struggle quite a bit with non h264 video, at least to begin with. That said my plan is primarily to use it headless plugged into some speakers and controlled via airplay/XBMC Commander on my iPhone as an incredibly cheap sonos/squeezebox alternative. Rasberrypi + Tripath amp + Bookshelf speakers looks to be full of win.
 
^ Meh practically all the files I have are h264, so should be fine. If they aren't its easy enough to encode them using x264.

They are going to be launching on another website that is hosted by an e commerce company. It should be fine. I would imagine that in the upcoming days before the launch, raspberrypi.org won't cope though.
 
Has anyone seen any full on training documentation for it? I know it's being developed as a programming tool for schools etc so surely they are going to have to have extensive guides and tutorials?

I've read the forums and there's lots of threads about using it in educational environments but nothing specifically from the team.

I'm sure there will be aspects of it that are documented officially but I imagine that side of it will be community driven. They are providing a resource that complys with various industry standards, its up to us to decide how to use it. For instance the 'official' programming language for it is python which is obviously heavily documented elsewhere, they don't need to repeat it all.
 
I imagine the initial 10k units will be gone in no time at all. I'm looking for one or two to experiment with but I imagine in a month or two they'll be two a penny on the bay sold by disgruntled folk who couldn't get on with the limitations :p
