Raspberry Pi - $35 Linux computer

I've got my one and I was very excited to get it up and running. Only problem is that I can't get the thing to boot at all. Tried multiple SD cards, multiple power adapters and USB cables and nothing.

No idea what else I can do apart from returning it as faulty at this point.

TheKnat - do you get any lights come on at all - also try reseating the hdmi lead as I have seen a few videos where people start them up and the hdmi is not in fully. It might also be worth checking on the Pi forums which SD cards are compatible incase you've just been unlucky.

I've tried with and without a HDMI lead in and I only get the PWR light. The OK light doesn't come on which apparently indicates that its an issue reading the SD card.

I've already been out and bought a SD card thats listed on the wiki as compatible and I've tried imaging it on Windows in 3 different ways and also using a linux install.

Really seems like I've exhausted all the possible fixes apart from trying to get hold of a known working SD card, but seeing as there aren't many Pi's out there yet, its going to be a difficult thing to do.

Try Debian if you're not there already. Someone a few posts back had this issue with Arch.

Still no sign of an order date for me though :(

I found this troubleshooting wiki which may help : http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting

There is a link on the page above to a tool which will wipe the sdcard at low level which may help - fingers crossed

Thanks for the link. Just ran that tool on the SD card after deleting all the partitions with diskpart, same issue. I've also done the voltage testing as that site recommends and it came out fine at 4.756V. Looks like its duff and will need to be returned, then I have the fun task of waiting for another one to turn up :(

This exactly happened with me when I put Arch Linux on the SD card. I reimaged it using Debian and worked fine after

I've tried every distro they have on the website and they all do the same thing, nothing.

I'm using a Kingston 8GB SD card mate, I'd try one more SD card then contact farnell/RS

edit/ Sorry just caught up with your other posts, sounds like you've already tried everything... The other one thing I did was use SDFormatter https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ not checked the wiki if that's the same tool you have already tried so apologizes if so

openelec

Cheers for the tip on openelec - I had no idea what it was - a quick google search revealed its just what I need a minimal linux distro with xbmc setup - I will give this a whirl on virtualbox on my laptop :)

You may also be interested to hear that a guy on th rp forums just got xbmc compiled and put up the binary. Check out the projects secction of the forums.

There are unmet dependancies on a stock image. If you arent sure what to do then i suggest you wait until its in a repo or an integrated image turns up. Wont be long.
