PRIMER

Good points:
- bit of "the matrix" in their
- bit of "memento" in their
- brain twisting plot
- indy film on a budget made good

Bad points:
- not long enough
- needs 3 veiws to get your melon around it

8.5/10

Inside Man (cinema)
Cracking Crime Caper! Very good cast all putting in solid performances, very well directed (Spike Lee) with good pacing and camera work. Great soundtrack as well. Don't expect shoot-outs and car chases tho - this is all about the characters and the dialogue. Very well done. 9/10

The World According to Garp (DVD)
Saw this a few years ago but couldn't really remember much about it. I can see why I enjoyed it first time tho - very funny and well acted all round. Especially John Lithgow as Roberta the Transsexual :) Maybe looks a bit dated now and is a little on the long side, but still a very enjoyable comedy/drama. 8/10

A few..

Serenity - 8 (Joss is a Sci-Fi Marvel!)
Doom - 7 (really enjoyed; with the Rock however, 5)
War of the Worlds - 6 (good use of FX and sound, however one of Cruises worst outings)
Brothers Grimm - 4 (poor is the only word i can use to describe it)

Failure to Launch

No brainer, typical chick flick (but not too bad in the realm of chick flick films), predictable film...and Matthew McConnaughey is absolutely sexy!!! :D

Just what I needed tbh after how I was feeling...

7/10

A history of violence (DVD)

I bought this yesterday in HMV and was instantly attracted by the 5 star, 5 star, 5 star on the cover.

Must say it was a good film with some wikid death scenes in it :) I felt abit lead on at the end tho, i didnt think it was gonna end where it did, like that.

Good for you movies buffs..buy it

Inside Man.
It's an all round good film - good cast, good script, good directing (except the numerous rotational shots just trying to make us dizzy!), good story etc...

I was waiting for a great twist in the tail but that never appeared which was a shame, but I'm still glad I saw it. A lot of the actions of the criminals in the film are self explanatory to anyone with half a brain cell, so the ending was a bit of a "well that was obvious" sort of thing. Also has a couple of rather large questions unanswered about the heist.

Still an enjoyable film though, so 7/10

GOAL!

Brilliant , I loved it.
Some cringeworthy accents and some terrible continuity but I think these can only be spotted if you're a native.
Suprisingly good story and showed the city in a great light.
Good football sequences interlaced with the actors.

10/10 if you're a toon fan.
3/10 if you're not.
-100/10 if you're a mackem. :)

Kingdom of Heaven

I didn't think it had done that well when it was released, so I wasn't really expecting much. It's an ok film and it's pretty easy to understand, but it just lacked something to make it more interesting and exciting.

It goes a long at a medium pace, never to slow or to fast. It’s just average in about every way it’s possible in a film. The scenes where there are two huge armies marching towards each other are impressive. But that’s about it.

7/10

The Island

I actually thought it was pretty good. Some genuinely funny moments, and Steve Buscemi steals the show in yet another great cameo. Probably would have done better without the misleading title though - The Island isn't really an intrinsic part of the plot but a hingepin to make the plot work. If it had been a luxury apartment block that the characters aspired to be sent to I doubt they'd have called the film 'The Apartments'.

Two at the weekend.

Ong Bak
Very good , some excellent fight scenes albeit with a weak story.
Proper fighters trying to act , rather than proper actors trying to fight.

7/10

A History Of Violence
Brilliant , great story and the plot always gave the feeling of never knowing what was going to happen next - a trait in modern movies that is seldom seen.
I thought the end was a tad poor but it didnt spoil the film.

8/10

Transporter 2

6/10

not a bad film, some bits are a bit silly, but the fight scenes are great and jason statham is generally a legend.

I agree with it being a good film, but the title was rather well placed imo. The Island is the only thing that they live for and the only thing that gives them hope. Then when they find out the truth itll be everything theyve ever hoped down the toilet.. :( It is a rather important element to the story if not common throughout the film.

Tried not to spoil it too much.
