RC cars

still have a nitro firestorm sat around here somewhere, used to be very heavy in, if you want shocking figures i'd dropped about £2.4k into my hpi baja 5b in upgrades and such before i sold it on [the running expense being just part of it]

hence why i switched to computers, much cheaper.

msuk right? haven't been on there in a loooong while, combo of tech then uni taking up all me time, just don't have it for the hobby these days.

how is the [other] blue place these days?

Is that all? :(

I was hoping that being the 'Bullet' it would go faster than that.

i wouldn't get too hung up on speed, it just makes the crashes bigger and the repairs costlier, and it doesn't necessarily correlate to the amount of fun had.

It doesn't do anywhere near that speed, there are different clutch bells available to alter speed/acceleration but I haven't really messed with it that much.

I think the Bullet is more of a 'beginners' Nitro RC, if I remember correctly the entire RTR kit set me back just £250. It's certainly fast enough for my limited experience at the moment though. :D

Nooooo, it's all about the speed :)

The Jato is my first rc car and I love the speed of it. Only downside is that I'd like a 4wd and the Bullet looked similar to the Jato (from what I've seen on YouTube).

Here's one of my Stampede's. This one is a 4x4 VXL. Pro-line body and trenchers. It's a great hobby to get into. I seem to be more into it than my kids. lol

I've got an old kyosho RWD thing that I inherited from a friend, pretty much tore it apart for spares lol

I've also got a maverick strada DC drift car which is a lot of fun to slide about, and a venom creeper rock crawler, my best friend got a losi comp crawler at the same time, and we've built a mound of salvaged rubble in his back garden :D I'll try to get some photos/vids over the weekend

I think when I have kids I'm going to use them as an excuse to buy RC cars, quad copters etc...

indeed. its dead over there now, there was only about 20 people on last time i looked. i must have stopped around the same time as you looking at the date you joined here. i didn't sell my hb lightning and savage till a couple of months ago. i just got bored when i was spending probably 24 hours+ repairing and trouble shooting for each tank of fuel. i moved on to pc's as a new hobby because they are more reliable and much harder to break.

Not long got back into RC Racing, bought myself a Schumacher Mi5. This shell is looking so fresh because basically I've not used it yet, my first shell has been well and truly ruined! Not because of damage, but because I used cheap acrylic spray... *note* always use Tamiya Paint, so much better!

Is that an Oak furniture land table ?
I wouldn't have put any of my hobby stuff on ours.
And that's not the Mrs telling me, its me telling everyone else :D

Yeah it is dholdi haha! My most favourite piece of furniture in my whole house :D

I don't do much on it tbh, barely even eat from it, just for the picture it was the nearest thing to me.

Thought it was, they are things of beauty, and also my fav, I am in the midst of making a pc desk in an alcove that matches the table. My hobby stuff gets done on stainless worktops in the garage.

My brother wants to get his 10 year old son his first RC car for Christmas, something to burn around the garden / woods and make jumps for, budget ~£200 all in. He was thinking something along the lines of a Tamiya kit, but looking at Modelsport it does not seem like these have adopted brushless motors yet?

Therefore, seen these two HPI kits, any thoughts on them?

HPI Firstorm 10T

HPI Maverick Strada

Any thoughts or alternatives appreciated!

DONT get a Tamiya if you intend on going off-road, they a fine for concrete, smooth roads and the odd small jump, but unless you want to spend a fortune in parts get a better brand. To sum up they are not all that resilient.
