RC cars

So I need a new battery or three, and I also haven't found any Tx yet which is annoying. I do have a Nicad/Nimh capable charger as well.

could be worth giving them a go, last year i unearthed two profitex 3800 nimh battery's that i hadnt used in about 8 years, it took a few cycles of charging them at the chargers lowest setting, but after a few times doing this, there perfectly fine again and i use them regularly.

With the radio situation, I've had a look for 27MHz Tx's and they don't seem that common anymore, is it worth trying to find one hopefully cheaply or go for something like the Hobbyking TS3t as a full 2.4GHz set?

Send me a message :-)

Well ive got an 1/10th scale ECX Torment 2WD Stadium truck sitting around, never had the time to really mess around with it, but when i did i screwed up the gearbox/diff looks under the shell very similar to my old HPI E-Firestorm (tub, suspension arms etc) that i absused for a while but i dont think anything transfers across - At the moment it seems to be hard to find any real parts for the bugger, id love some aftermarket things but low end trucks dont seem to attract many people so aftermarket stuff isnt around :(

If i ever have the money spare, i want a HPI Baja, the one that looks like a truck not the buggy so bad, but convert it to brushless, sounds like it would be a beast.

Had a bit more snow last night so thought i'd get some drift time in, but it was melting a bit too fast!

HPI already do a brushless Baja called the flux. All you'd need is the truck shell and bodymounts to turn it into the truck.

8S and a motor the size of a Coke can makes it very very quick!

Got some extra money this week and ordered an FTX Carnage Nitro.

Does about 40 mph and with a couple of upgrades should get near the Jato (60+)

Its all about the speed :)

Just buy a 1/16 Revo VXL and run it on Lipo.

Thats silly fast! :p

Some of the electric cars look really nice, but its the sound they make which kinda puts me off. The nitro ones might be loud but they do sound like a car :)

My Carnage NT turned up yesterday. There's a few issues with it - just cosmetic ones, and its not up to the quality of my Jato, but still looks nice.

I have the boring part of running in the engine to do first, then Ill get the upgrades for it to make it faster :)

not sure nitro is really a nice sound lol, it can be depending on the motor though, but best thing about the electric is you have more options for when and where you can use it. And when you get to the really powerfull brushless motors they have some great sound effects lol, like the drivetrain lunching itself, but seriously hearing the tyres biting into the surface and all the assorted effects can be pretty cool.

The only RC things that sound awesome like their real counterparts are rc planes and helis everything else sounds horrivle even 2 stroke engines sound like garden strimmers
listen from 1:45 :O

0:35 lol dat speed
Do want

I would love to get back into RC racing again, used to race 1/8th buggy and monster trucks and a bit of 1/10th indoors.

I still have all the gear and i'm very tempted to start again, go brushless, get some lipo's and go to a couple of indoor sessions.

Anyone know anywhere in the West Sussex area that I could go besides Horsham on a friday evening?

  • HPI Savage, probably not used for the last eight years (stuck in garage).
  • Tamiya TLT-1 Max Climber, custom build with lots of billet and carbon bits, spent a small fortune on it, it was more of a shelf queen than actual useable car.
  • XTM Rage, brushless lipo, very very quick but has a busted suspension arm that I never got round to replacing.
  • Losi micro-t truck, tiny, simple, loads of fun.

my last nitro was a hong nor crt-x1, I still have the chassis and keep debating whether to convert it to brushless, or to get a 1/8th buggy. I've got a few 1/10chassis and the buggy's see by far the most use whatever the weather. Edited up a vid of my dt03 today, I've got a castle 5700kv motor in this with a 25 tooth pinion, and smashed it into walls and trees, its one tough buggy and I've never actually broken anything on it.
