RC cars

They have been out a while but it's a solid 1/8th car, got a few others all electric for my boys to use.

Yeah they are, i abused one for about 2 seasons with a OS Vpec before getting given my Thunder Tiger S3 as our track was sponsored by the distributor. And even then i used the rear support brace from the Hyper 7 on my S3 to stop the rear from flexing when jumping.

Yeah i wouldn't go back to petrol now, it's too much hassle and brushless is ******* quick now!! But I prefer to fly helicopters now as we don't really have a track near us to race at.

1/8th nitro and 1/10th electric, both offroad. Racing electric is the easiest but I can't get enough of nitro. It's more of a challenge with the pitstops and keeping the engine running sweet.

Only thing with Tamiya stuff is that the break if you sneeze near them :D

Not a hater first cars I had were a Frog and then a Lunchbox (1st editions not the relaunched ones). They tend to break if you attempt any decent off roading and the parts aint that cheap.

I had a Tamiya Subaru Brat original in the 80s, that got broken a lot.

I'm thinking of getting a car but don't know what, I remember that Kyosho were a good make but they don't seem to do many kits nowadays, mostly rtr.

If you want a kit, just buy a Tamiya and buy all the upgraded parts at the same time.

Yes, it's a kids RC car. Yes, she knows me so well smile :D

It's pretty good! Very impressive for £43 delivered.

Might do some vids of my Brushless converted Hyper 7.

A few of us used to muck around on a bmx track a few years ago.

In the woods and yes the guy falling over was still very drunk from the night before.

Blimey, small world. Didn't realise you were a Stoke Basher. I used to be out at Fenton quite a lot with Andy, Dave and Jonny and ran various cars. My fave being my 8ight 2.0.

Were you at Fenton the day Matt pulled out in front of a car and caused a big accident?

He was half cut on Red Stripe and was twice over the limit when they breathalised him.

Most cars are RTR or race rollers these days. Kit wise, you are looking at Mugen, TLR, Hong Nor and Team Associated. I think HoBao do a couple of kits too.

At the cheaper end of the scale you have Ansmann/Team C kits.

Kyosho make good cars, but parts can be harder to find these days.

I can't really offer advice on road cars, but off road - you wont go far with most of the major names. I personally really liked my 8ight 2.0. Was a brilliant car and great control in the air too. Indeed it needed very little input and flew straight as an arrow.

I also loved my ST Pro cars, of which I had several! :D

You cant go wrong with a Hyper 7. If you get a more upgraded one like the black edition they are a brilliant little car but buggies are harder to drive generally. A truggy would be a good starting point because they are versatile and easy to drive.

Regarding nitro / vs electric there are good and bad points for both. I think really you need to assess your budget and the areas available to run and the kind of car / driving you want. I was simply a basher so needed a tough reliable car. If you want competition and racing, people tend to go for more specialised kits with lots of carbon fibre and lighter chassis etc.

All the bits I needed have arrived - can finally start building it after sitting in my garage for 3 years!

Have just started getting the bits to convert my old t maxx to brushless. I have a single speed conversion and forward only kit. Have located a motor mount and just deciding on the motor/esc combo. I find nitro a bit of a faff so it hasn't had use for years. Next up associated rc10gt conversion.

Oh fair enough then, I can certainly see why. Tbh the Savage is as tough as an old boot. Maybe a pair of spare wishbones, some wheels and sprockets. Even then I'd say simply go bashing and repair as it goes. As you're probably aware you always break the one part you don't have ;)

TBH wouldn't touch a stock Savage, buy a decent used one off MSUK or maxbashing, that's been hopped up to the max, will still be cheaper.
I wouldn't trust buying a secondhand one unless it was really mega cheap
As if the nitro motor was on it last legs you have over a £150 bill straight away..

Plus there always that special feeling went unboxing a brandnew one ;)

These look like way to much fun to pass up at £40!

Does anyone know what the differences are between the A959 Buggy, A969 Stadium Truck and A979 Monster Truck other than the shell?
